𝗖𝗖𝗦𝗙𝗣 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀

The City College of San Fernando Pampanga (CCSFP) has reached a new milestone in its pursuit of innovation-driven and socially responsive education, securing significant recognition in international university rankings.

In the latest World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), CCSFP achieved an impressive 348th place worldwide, underscoring its commitment to forward-thinking and globally aligned higher education.

The college received distinctions in several key categories:

• Student Mobility and Openness – Rank 47
• Ethics and Integrity – Rank 38
• ESG Trend (Environmental, Social, and Governance) – Rank 34

Further affirming its global impact, CCSFP was also featured in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, which measure universities’ contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Out of 2,526 participating institutions, CCSFP placed in the 1501+ global band, reflecting its dedication to sustainability and inclusive growth.

The college earned recognition across multiple SDG categories:

• SDG 1: No Poverty – Rank 401–600
• SDG 4: Quality Education – Rank 401–600
• SDG 5: Gender Equality – Rank 601–800
• SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – Rank 1001+

Bilang paggunita sa kaarawan ni Dr. Jose Rizal, handog ng The Star Chronicle, ang opisyal na pahayagan ng CCSFP, ang isang katha na naglalayong maisabuhay ang kanyang mga dakilang turo.

𝗦𝗶 𝗥𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗴-𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗸𝘂𝘆𝗮’𝘁 𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗽

Si Dr. Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonzo Realonda ay hindi lamang pangalan sa libro ng kasaysayan. Siya ay isang Pilipinong henyo—isang manunulat, manggagamot, makata, at higit sa lahat, isang makabayan na isinakripisyo ang kanyang buhay para sa kalayaan ng sambayanang Pilipino. Ipinanganak noong Hunyo 19, 1861 sa Calamba, Laguna, si Rizal ay naging simbolo ng rebolusyon sa pamamagitan ng kanyang mga akdang tumuligsa sa katiwalian at pagmamalupit ng mga kolonyalistang dayuhan sa nakaraan.

Higit sa pagiging manunulat ng Noli Me Tangere at El Filibusterismo, si Rizal ay tagapagtaguyod ng edukasyon. Para sa kanya, ang pag-unlad ng isang bayan ay nakasalalay sa talino, pagkamulat, at pag-unawa ng mga mamamayan. Naniniwala siya na ang kabataan, sa pamamagitan ng wastong edukasyon, ay may kakayahang baguhin ang kapalaran ng bansa. Ipinaglaban niya ang karapatan ng bawat Pilipino na matuto at maunawaan ang sariling kalagayan. Sa bawat titik ng kanyang panulat, hinubog niya ang kamalayang makabayan ng isang buong henerasyon.

Ngunit ngayon, sa gitna ng makabagong teknolohiya, mabilis na takbo ng buhay, at pagkalat ng impormasyong walang saysay at minsa’y hindi beripikado, tila unti-unti nang nawawala ang pagpapahalaga ng tao sa mga sinulat ni Rizal at sa kanyang mga prinsipyo. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗸𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝗻𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝘂𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝗮𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗮𝗶𝗻. Ang kanyang mga akda ay itinuturing na lamang ng ilan bilang "requirement" sa eskwela, hindi bilang buhay na babala at gabay. Nakakalungkot isipin na sa panahong ang edukasyon ay mas abot-kamay na, mas marami ang hindi na nagbabasa, nag-iisip, o kumikilos ayon sa mga aral ni Rizal. Kaya napapatanong ang ilan, tunay bang nababago ng kabataan ang bansa o masyado silang nasasadlak sa agos ng modernisasyon, nawawalan ng halaga ang mga nagawa ni Rizal?

Kaya’t sa ganitong panahon, mahalagang balikan natin ang tunay na saysay ng mga turo ni Rizal—ang kanyang paniniwala sa kapangyarihan ng edukasyon, katotohanan, at pagkakaisa.

Tunay nga na ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan dahil hindi kailangang maging bayani upang pahalagahan si Rizal. Sa simpleng paraan, tulad ng pag-aaral at pag-unawa sa kanyang mga isinulat, naipapakita natin ang tunay na pagpapahalaga sa kanyang mga ambag. Mahalaga ring ituro sa kabataan ang kahalagahan ng boses, prinsipyo, at kasaysayan. Higit sa lahat, dapat isabuhay ang kanyang diwa sa pagiging mapanuri, makatao, at makabayan. Sa ganitong paraan, nananatiling buhay si Rizal sa ating mga kilos at adhikain sa makabagong panahon, at sa ganitong paraan, mapapahalagagan ng mga kabataan ang gawa ng ating mga bayani, una na si Rizal.

Matandaan nawa nila na kaakibat ng kalayaang tinatamasa ay ang sakripisyo ng mga magigiting na Pilipino na ipinaglaban ang ating kalayaan at karapatan, hindi gamit ang dahas kung hindi ang talino na makakapagpamulat sa mga saradong isip.

Higit sa pagbasa ng akda ni Rizal na may pag-unawa, tayo ay dapat tumindig para sa tama at pahalagaan ang edukasyon- dahil doon, mananatiling buhay ang isang Dr. Jose Rizal.

𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗡𝗨 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗘 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

On June 16, 2025 (Monday), the Institute of Education of the City College of San Fernando Pampanga (CCSFP) hosted a lecture entitled “Learning Across Nations: Ethiopian System of Education and Culture in Comparison to Philippine Lessons in Education”. This collaboration with the Philippine Normal University (PNU) was made possible to promote educational and cultural awareness among pre-service English teachers.

The seminar brought together the second-year English major pre-service teachers to an interactive session aimed at broadening their global perspectives, specifically that of Ethiopia's educational system and cultural heritage.

The lecturer was a professor in Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia- Dr. Mekasha Kassaye Gobaw. The Ethiopian Cultural and Educational System was the focus of his lecture. His presentation also covered a wide range of topics, including his country’s language, calendar, cuisine, music, wedding customs, and clothing. He also discussed the structure, policies, sectors, and challenges within Ethiopia’s higher and teacher education .

After the said lecture, the participants were given the floor to ask Dr. Gobaw some questions, with him providing impactful responses. This interactive forum motivated and inspired the participants to continue their journey in the teaching profession.

Later in the program, Dr. Mekasha Kassaye Gobaw and Mr. Justine Santos, PNU Representative, were awarded certificate of appreciation led by the College President, Atty. Gloria J. Victoria Bañas, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs and International Engagements, Dr. Melanie Viloria-Briones.

The seminar concluded with a heartfelt message from the College President, Atty. Bañas, and a closing remarks from the Dean of the Institute of Education, Dr. Kimberly G. Mallari, who expressed their deepest gratitude for having the opportunity to be a part of a great partnership and initiative in shaping globally aware and competent educators.

The event was made possible with the collaborative efforts and hardwork of the advisers and officers of the English Language Trailblazers- a Recognized Student Organization (RSO).

𝗨𝗯𝗲𝗯𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 2 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

The AIS students, fondly called Ubebes, came together with a full day of academic enrichment and excitement at the highly anticipated AIS Day 2 which include the AIS Night: Stellar Soiree last June 10, 2025.

The morning program commenced with the warm opening remarks, delivered by their Dean- Emilie E. Laxina, CPA, MM, expressing gratitude and appreciation to everyone. The Ubebes, led by the Institute's Student Council, showed a dance performance to set the mood before the ceremony officially began. The morning program featured stimulating academic games including Account-Think, which Dean Laxina and Ms. Lyca De Jesus, IAIS faculty member, joined delightedly, along with the ever-energetic Pop & Drop.

The celebration continued in the evening highlighting the most awaited AIS Night: Stellar Soiree “A Night Under the Stars,” which celebrated the unity, hard work, and a star like the excellence of Ubebes. Evening activities kicked off with a heartfelt surprise: a video tribute and song dedication for Dean Laxina. This meaningful act expressed deep gratitude for the heartwarming love and care that Dean Laxina has shown throughout their journey, emphasizing that she is their guiding star, which left everyone emotional.

Not long after, a photo session followed capturing the Ubebes' electrifying enthusiasm wearing their best attire for the AIS night. The stellar program continued with a moving video tribute to the 4th year AIS students, mirroring their memorable experiences throughout their academic journey.

Thereafter, the Ubebes heat up the dance floor, grooving with the upbeat music as the stellar party officially started. The glazing night concluded when the winners were announced.

𝗨𝗯𝗲𝗯𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗜𝗦 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 2025

With vibrant energy and high spirits, the long-awaited AIS Days 2025 commenced last June 9, at the Heroes Hall Mini Convention Center, marking the beginning of a celebration filled with learning, competition, and camaraderie.

The event was formally opened by IAIS Dean Emilie E. Laxina, CPA, MM, who delivered an inspiring message to welcome the students, fondly called "Ubebes." This was followed by Ms. Lyka den Jesus, who reminded participants to enjoy the activities and embrace the opportunity to refresh their minds while fostering academic and personal growth.

A highlight of the opening was the dynamic UBEBE CHANT, performed by the students and faculty alike. Organized into groups named after zodiac signs, each section showcased creativity and school spirit.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, Hon. Coun. Engr. Aurelio Brenz Gonzales graced the event and delivered a motivational speech. He encouraged the students to stay passionate and driven, reinforcing the value of education and leadership.

The day continued with series of industry talks, where professionals from various fields shared insights and guidance. Mr. Eugene Velasquez spoke about the qualities of a successful accountant, Mr. Carlo Carreon emphasized the importance of financial literacy, and Ross Jeremy A. Manalang delved into language proficiency and its impact on communication in the professional world.

Following the talks, Ubebes engaged in a series of interactive games and competitions, including the Amazing Race, Quiz Bee, Hephep Hooray, Animal Sound, and Trip to Jerusalem.

Carrying the theme, “STELLAR: Shine Bright – Stellar Accounting for Exceptional Insight,” AIS Days 2025 served as a platform for students to showcase their talents, strengthen bonds, and gain practical knowledge.

IE 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 to a 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲

The Institute of Education at City College of San Fernando Pampanga conducted a seminar entitled “Sign with Confidence and Alumni Talk” at the Ninoy Aquino Amphitheater, Heroes Hall. The event gathered third- and fourth-year pre-service teachers in a session focused on employment readiness, contract awareness, and practical professional insights.

The seminar aimed to equip the Talaturung Aslag with the knowledge and confidence needed to transition from student life to the teaching profession. The program focused on understanding employment contracts, avoiding common pitfalls during contract signing, and drawing inspiration from the real-life experiences of CCSFP alumni.

The College President, Atty. Gloria J. Victoria Bañas, CPA, DPA, CESO V, served as the keynote speaker. Her lecture focused on essential aspects of employment contracts and labor laws relevant to educators. She provided practical guidance on evaluating job offers and emphasized the importance of making informed decisions early in one’s career.

Following the session on legal matters, two alumni shared their journey towards being professional teachers. Arabella Dayrit, LPT, a graduate of the BEEd program, spoke about the challenges she faced in her first year of teaching and how those experiences deepened her understanding of the teaching profession. Mr. Aaron Gutierrez, a BSEd Science graduate, offered insights on the importance of seeing students beyond the classroom and encouraged perseverance and confidence in the face of professional challenges.

During the open forum, the alumni provided practical advice on preparing for demo teaching, handling teaching loads, and reviewing effectively for the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). They also highlighted the importance of understanding content over memorization and maintaining a strong sense of self-belief as educators.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Kimberly G. Mallari, Dean of the Institute of Education, who expressed her gratitude to the speakers and participants and encouraged the pre-service teachers to apply the lessons they learned as they enter the teaching profession.

𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

In an effort to promote digital safety and personal data protection among the youth, the City Government of San Fernando, Pampanga conducted a Data Privacy Awareness Seminar on May 29, 2025. The event took place at the Ninoy Aquino Amphitheater, Heroes Hall, CSFP.

The seminar organized by the local government, was attended by students from the City College of San Fernando, Pampanga and St. Nicolas College of Business and Technology. With the theme “Understanding Your Privacy,” the session aimed to educate students on the significance of safeguarding their personal information—particularly in the digital space. It also served to raise awareness of their data privacy rights under existing laws and policies.

Serving as the resource speaker was Ms. Mary Catherine Emgard M. Santiago, the Overall Compliance Officer for Privacy of CSFP LGU. In her talk, she emphasized practical tips and best practices for protecting personal data online, empowering students to become more responsible digital citizens.

The initiative underscores the city's commitment to digital literacy and privacy protection as part of its broader youth and education development agenda.
