Pawa Beach, specifically the Pawa-Buntod shoreline in Panay, Capiz, is a 3-kilometer stretch known for its fine black sand and serves as a popular local spot for swimming, skimboarding, and sunbathing. The 𝓢𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓪 𝓜𝓸𝓷𝓲𝓬𝓪 𝓟𝓪𝓻𝓲𝓼𝓱 𝓒𝓱𝓾𝓻𝓬𝓱, located in Panay, Capiz, is a historic Roman Catholic church founded in 1698, famed for housing the largest bell in Asia, the 10.4-metric ton Dakong Lingganay. Designated as a National Cultural Treasure (2004) and National Historical Landmark (1997), it features Neoclassic-Baroque architecture built with coral stones.

𝕂𝕖𝕪 𝕕𝕖𝕥𝕒𝕚𝕝𝕤 𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕊𝕥𝕒. 𝕄𝕠𝕟𝕚𝕔𝕒 ℙ𝕒𝕣𝕚𝕤𝕙 ℂ𝕙𝕦𝕣𝕔𝕙 𝕚𝕟𝕔𝕝𝕦𝕕𝕖:

Tԋҽ Pαɳαყ Bҽʅʅ (Dαƙσɳɠ Lιɳɠɠαɳαყ): Cast in 1878 using 70 sacks of coins, the bell is the largest in Asia and third-largest in the world, with a sound that reportedly reached 8 km away.

Aɾƈԋιƚҽƈƚυɾҽ: Constructed in 1774, the church is noted for its 3-meter thick walls, coral stone construction, and a five-story belfry.

Iɳƚҽɾισɾ: The church retains its original, well-preserved retablo (altar) featuring antique saint statues.

Sιɠɳιϝιƈαɳƈҽ: It is a major pilgrimage site and a top tourist destination in Panay, which was the former capital of the province.

Hιʂƚσɾყ: Dedicated to Saint Monica, the patron saint of mothers, it has been managed by the Augustinian Friars.

The Diplomat Hotel (also known as the Dominican Hill Retreat House), a historic and reportedly haunted landmark located in Baguio City, Philippines.

History:

Original Use: Construction began in 1913, and the building was inaugurated in May 1915 as a vacation and retreat house for Dominican friars. It also briefly housed a school called Colegio Del Santissimo Rosario.

World War II:

During the war, the property was used as a camp for refugees but was later invaded and turned into the headquarters for the Japanese forces' secret police, the Kempeitai. This period was marked by brutal atrocities, including the tort*re, r*pe, and beheading of many inhabitants, nuns, and priests, which contributed significantly to its later reputation.

Hotel Conversion:

After sustaining extensive damage from American bombing in 1945, the structure was rebuilt in 1947 and then remodeled into the Diplomat Hotel in 1973. The hotel was managed by a famous faith healer named Tony Agpaoa and catered mostly to international guests seeking his alternative healing services.

Abandonment and Current Status:

Following Agpaoa's death in 1987, the hotel ceased operations and was left abandoned. The property suffered further damage in the 1990 Luzon earthquake. In 2005, the city government of Baguio acquired the property, renamed it the Dominican Heritage Hill and Nature Park, and declared it a National Historic Site in 2014. It is now a popular tourist attraction, an art center, and a venue for events, known for its scenic views and eerie ambiance.

Reputation:

The site is widely considered one of the most haunted places in the Philippines, with numerous stories of paranormal activity, including sightings of headless apparitions and disembodied screams or crying noises, believed to be the spirits of the war victims.
