An open letter to all moms:

Hi Mima,

I know, right now parang tinitingnan mo ’yung sarili mo at iniisip mo… “Nasaan na ’yung dating ako?” That lively, energetic, cheerful version of you feels so far away.

Parang nanay at asawa ka na lang palagi. Asan na ’yung time para sa sarili mo? I feel you 🥺. Lahat tayo dumadaan sa ganyang phase, and honestly, minsan inaabot pa ng taon. ’Yung feeling na parang tapos na ang personal life mo, kasi buong araw mo ay nakalaan sa pamilya mo.

Pero please, don’t be too hard on yourself. First time mo maging nanay sa lifetime na ’to. You’re figuring everything out habang sabay-sabay silang nangyayari. And girl, that is not easy. Hindi ka pangit dahil haggard at puyat ka sa pag-aalaga ng anak mo. That’s not a downgrade, that’s love. That’s sacrifice. Para sa pamilya mo.

Pero makakabalik ka. Promise. Babalik ’yung saya mo. Babalik ’yung confidence mo. One day, you’ll look in the mirror and say, “Ang ganda mo pa rin, na-miss kita, self!”

Wag mong i-compare sarili mo sa iba. Hindi ka napag-iiwanan, you’re just on your own timeline. May sarili kang pace, at okay lang ’yun. Kasi darating din ’yung time mo. And when it does, you’ll be so glad you never gave up on yourself.

P.S. Beauty doesn’t fade… it just transforms. 💓
