THE BATTLE OF KAKARONG DE SILI;

The Kakarong de Sili Battle took place on January 1, 1897, and was one of the earliest and bloodiest encounters between the Filipino revolutionaries and the Spanish forces. the revolutionaries, members of the Katipunan led by General Eusebio Roque, also known as " Maestrong Sebio", established the Kakarong Republic. This was one of the first revolutionary government, even before the establishment of the more well-known Biak-na- Bato Republic.

The site featured trenches and defenses to protect the revolutionaries, However, Spanish forces launched a surprise attack on the encampment, leading to a fierce battle that resulted in significant casualties on both sides. Despite their bravery, the revolutionaries were ultimately overwhelmed by the better-armed Spanish troops, leading to the fall of Kakarong Republic.

The Kakarong de Sili Shrine is more than just a historical marker; it is a symbol of the resilience and determination of the Filipino people in their quest for freedom. the battle, despite its tragic outcome, showcased the Filipino's willingness to the fight for their rights and sovereignty.
