I saw dolphins today. For my 38th birthday, I watched three dolphins swim and play in front of me in the middle of the salty open waters of Bohol.
If last year you told me I’d be seeing dolphins for the very first time, I would’ve screamed, “No way!” My 37th year had a very rocky start—messy, chaotic, full of abrupt endings and long-overdue beginnings. Not to mention plot twists I absolutely did not see coming.
And if you told me I’d be starting my own firm—something built from my own vision, grit, and name—I would’ve laughed and said, “Haha yeah, pwede… Pero dein ko pa kaya.”
But here I am now.

Believing in myself.
Dreaming bigger than I ever have.
All products of faith, endurance, and rebuilding a life from scratch. “Who would have thought,” as Father Francis Alvarez, SJ, once said in one of his beautiful homilies—an invitation to take stock and be grateful for how far you’ve come from the moment you had absolutely no idea where and how to begin again.
Who would have thought? And if you’re reading this and going through what my 37th year put me through: take this as your sign—your three dolphins in Bohol waters—that everything will absolutely be alright.
Dolphins are highly skilled, joyful, and social creatures. Clearly and unapologetically, you can say the same about me. 👌🏻 (Although unlike dolphins, I doubt I can balance a ball on my nose.)
