Tips for VA interview
🚫 What Not to Say During a VA Interview (10 Tips for Beginners)
1️⃣ “I don’t have any experience.”
❌ This sounds negative.
✅ Instead say:
“I’m just starting out, but I’ve practiced these skills and I’m confident I can do the tasks well.”
⸻
2️⃣ “I can do everything.”
❌ Clients prefer honesty and clarity, not overconfidence.
✅ Instead say:
“I can help with [specific tasks], and I’m open to learning new ones if needed.”
⸻
3️⃣ “I don’t know.”
❌ Avoid giving flat “no” answers.
✅ Instead say:
“I’m not familiar with that yet, but I’m willing to learn it quickly.”
⸻
4️⃣ “I just want to work from home.”
❌ Makes it sound like you only care about comfort, not service.
✅ Instead say:
“I love the flexibility of remote work, but I’m more excited about helping clients manage their tasks efficiently.”
⸻
5️⃣ “What do you do exactly?”
❌ This shows you didn’t research the client.
✅ Instead say:
“I read about your business and saw you offer [service/product]. I’d love to know more about how your team works day to day.”
⸻
6️⃣ “I don’t have any questions.”
❌ This can make you look uninterested.
✅ Instead say:
“May I ask what tools you usually use for communication and task management?”
⸻
7️⃣ “How much will I get paid?” (Too early!)
❌ Avoid asking salary questions at the start unless the client brings it up.
✅ Instead say:
“I’d love to know more about the project scope first so I can give a fair rate based on the work needed.”
⸻
8️⃣ “Sorry, my internet is bad.”
❌ This shows unpreparedness.
✅ Instead say:
Before the interview, test your connection. If there’s an issue, say calmly:
“There seems to be a slight lag; thank you for your patience.”
⸻
9️⃣ “I’m nervous.”
❌ It’s normal to feel this way, but don’t highlight it.
✅ Instead say:
(Internally breathe and smile!) Focus on listening and answering confidently.
⸻
🔟 “I don’t have skills yet.”
❌ Clients want capable assistants, even beginners.
✅ Instead say:
“I’m continuously improving my skills through practice and online courses. I’m eager to apply what I’ve learned to real projects.”
⸻
💡 Pro Tip: Always sound positive, confident, and eager to learn.
Even if you’re new, your attitude can make the biggest impression.
