SSLG, Gabay, CIC clubs hold Leadership Training Seminar

PARAÑAQUE CITY, Philippines — Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) in collaboration with the Campus Integrity Crusaders (CIC) - Saligan organization and Gabay Club of Moonwalk National High School (MwNHS) conducted a Leadership Training Seminar with the theme: "Leadership Rooted in Integrity and Responsibility: Inspiring Change in Communities" for all classroom presidents and learner-led club presidents around 8:30 AM, at the Audio Visual Room (AVR) or Multi-purpose hall in the 5th floor of Senior High School (SHS) building, to develop leadership skills with passion and integrity.

The event commenced with the Philippines national anthem and a prayer led by the Gabay Club Vice President Samara Erin D. Ganacias, as the Masters of the Ceremony Stephanie R. Baculinao and Princess Ayeisha A. Vicedo hosted the seminar.

Followed by an opening remarks delivered by the Secondary Principal IV Dr. Leonisa D. Romano. Afterwards, an All-Star Talents Rising Onstage (ASTRO) club board member Mary Faithfully Bongo performed a song called "Gabay" by KZ Tandingan from the movie Raya and the Last Dragon.

SSLG Adviser Noriel P. Pujante introduced Janice Pedrosa of Gabay Club and Jo Luis Baculi of CIC organization, as well as welcomed the first speaker John Andrew V. Uy to discuss "Leading with Integrity – How Youth Leaders Can Drive Real Social Change".

He's also the founder of Tayo Tayo Parañaque, a socio-political and socio-civic nonprofit organization dedicated to promote good governance.

Drew Uy said that positions or titles aren't necessarily important to promote integrity, because even through smallest things, students just have to be consistent.

"Leadership isn't a title, it's a choice," Drew Uy also shared in one of his statements.

"Don't find your place, create it." Drew Uy added.

Drew Uy assigned everyone an activity using a sample paper to carve any symbols that make them their unique identity or write their purpose on why they chose to take up the mantle as a leader.

To ignite a spark of enthusiasm, SSLG officials along with the Gabay Club and CIC organization officials performed an intermission dance number to the song called "Galing Kabataan" by the Youth Pulse.

Gabay Club Adviser Janice Pedrosa presented the next second speaker, the Community Affairs and Technical Services Division Administrator of Barangay Moonwalk Mr. Niño B. Gasid.

He tackled the topic: "Moral Leadership in the 21st Century: A Call to Social Responsibility".

Gasid used Mayor Vico Sotto as a role model that should be emulated by the youth in aspects of moral leadership, self-discipline, compassion, etc.

Eventually, certificates were awarded to the resource speakers and club advisers for their participation and recognition.

As the ceremony came closer to the end, message of appreciation and gratitude was proclaimed by SSLG President King Deo D. Sandoval.

The event was successfully concluded as SSLG Adviser Noriel P. Pujante addressed the closing remarks.

𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐄 𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍.

Today, the 21st of September 2025, marks the 53rd Anniversary of the Declaration of Martial Law by Former Dictator President Marcos Sr. — a blanket of tyranny that enveloped the entire nation of the Philippines in terror and despair.

70,000 𝚙𝚎𝚘𝚙𝚕𝚎 𝚠𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚒𝚖𝚙𝚛𝚒𝚜𝚘𝚗𝚎𝚍. 34,000 𝚙𝚎𝚘𝚙𝚕𝚎 𝚠𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚎𝚍.
3,200 𝚙𝚎𝚘𝚙𝚕𝚎 𝚠𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚔𝚒𝚕𝚕𝚎𝚍.

As we commemorate this tragic anniversary, we're also shining light upon the unheard stories of poor victims who could've had a better future right before it was stolen from them — activists, students, journalists, and other fellow Filipino citizens under the cruel rule of Martial Law.

Let this serve as a reminder to never forget all of the extensive human rights violations, lack of accountability, historical revisionism, and elusive justice as the people in power flaunted their opulent lifestyles back then in the darkest era of our country.
