ADD TO CART IS NOT ENOUGH: WHAT I WISH EVERY MOM KNEW ABOUT REAL SELF-CARE
A few weeks ago, I was invited to a TV interview about being a mompreneur. One of the questions:
“How do moms like us practice self-care?”
I smiled, but my heart had more to say. ❤️
Sabi ng mga kasamahan ko sa interview,
“Shopping and sleep.”
And I totally get it! Sino ba naman ang di gagaan ang pakiramdam with new bedsheets or a solid 8-hour sleep? 😅😁
Don’t get me wrong—ako rin!
I want to shop.
I need to sleep.
Because I’ve shopped and still felt empty.
I’ve slept and still woke up feeling heavy.
💔
Yung walang budget for Shopee sale kahit 6.6 pa ‘yan?
Real talk?
I’ve been there mga Inay. 🙈
And over the years, I’ve realized:
self-care is not just physical.
Kasi totoo ’to:
What happens on the inside, manifests on the outside.
You can sleep for 10 hours and still wake up drained.
You can shop ‘til you drop and still feel empty.
You can go on a spa day and still carry invisible wounds.
So what does real self-care look like?
Let’s go beyond the face mask and flash sale.
1. EMOTIONAL SELF-CARE
💗 Saying no without guilt.
💗 Journaling your thoughts, not just your to-do’s.
💗 Crying when you need to, instead of bottling it up.
💗 Talking to a safe friend—or seeking help when needed.
2. MENTAL SELF-CARE
💗 Reading life-giving books or content, not just reading comments.
💗 Unsubscribing from toxic feeds.
💗 Learning something new that excites you.
💗 Giving your brain permission to rest, not just scroll.
3. SPIRITUAL SELF-CARE
💗 Starting the day in prayer, even if it’s just 3 minutes.
💗 Meditating on truth when lies start to spiral.
💗 Reminding yourself: You are not alone in this motherhood thing.
💗 Finding peace beyond productivity.
4. PHYSICAL SELF-CARE
💗 Nourishing your body, not punishing it.
💗 Stretching kahit 5 minutes lang sa umaga.
💗 Drinking water (oo, tubig muna bago kape!).
💗 Resting—not when everything is done, but when you are done.
And here’s the truth I learned the hard way:
Self-care isn’t selfish.
It’s stewardship.
When you care for your soul, your body, and your mind, you show up better for your family, your business, and yourself.
So if no one told you this today:
You’re allowed to pause.
You’re allowed to rest.
You’re allowed to take care of you—not because you’re weak, but because you’re wise.
You are not just a mom.
You are a woman with depth, purpose, and divine worth.
Don’t wait for burnout to be your wake-up call. 🥲
Start caring for the inside—because that’s where the real glow begins. 🩵
And if you’re in a season where motherhood feels like a blur—nakakapagod, nakakasakal, minsan parang nawawala ka na sa sarili mo—maybe this is your sign to pause and reset.
I wrote Paano Mapagod sa Pagiging Mommy for moms like us.
