This miracle shows Jesus’ power and care, even in ordinary work like fishing. It also symbolizes abundance and mission — the apostles would later “fish for people,” bringing many into faith.
The story in John 21:1–14, where after Jesus’ resurrection, some of the apostles went fishing at the Sea of Tiberias (Sea of Galilee).
Simon Peter, Thomas, Nathanael, James, John (the sons of Zebedee), and two other disciples were together.
They went fishing but caught nothing during the night.
In the morning, Jesus (though they didn’t recognize Him at first) stood on the shore and told them: “Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.”
They obeyed, and suddenly the net was full — 153 large fish — yet the net was not torn.
John recognized Jesus and said, “It is the Lord!”
Peter quickly jumped into the water to reach Jesus.
When they came ashore, they found a fire of coals with fish and bread prepared by Jesus. He invited them: “Come and have breakfast.”
