But here's the good news: with a white cane in hand, they move with confidence — day or night — embracing life, exploring spaces, and enjoying the world like everyone else.

Today, August 1, we celebrate White Cane Safety Day in the Philippines, as declared in Republic Act 6759. It’s more than a date — it’s a call to promote inclusion, raise awareness, and recognize the white cane as a powerful symbol of mobility, independence, and dignity.

Let’s build a world that sees with empathy and walks together in understanding.

Today, July 23, 2025, marks the 161st birth anniversary of the "Brains of the Revolution," Apolinario Mabini – a truly inspiring figure whose unwavering intellect and dedication transcended his physical challenges. It's a particularly significant day for Hands in Inclusion Philippines, as we join the nation in commemorating his legacy and its profound connection to National Disability Rights Week (NDRW) 2025.
Mabini, known as the "Sublime Paralytic," became a beacon of resilience and intellectual prowess despite losing the use of his lower limbs.

His life epitomizes the very essence of inclusion, demonstrating that disability is not a barrier to significant contribution and leadership. As we observe NDRW 2025 from July 17-23 with the theme "Innovation for Inclusion: Building Inclusive Communities Together," Mabini's journey serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of recognizing the capabilities of all individuals, regardless of their physical state.

Hands in Inclusion Philippines is committed to upholding Mabini's spirit by advocating for a society where persons with disabilities are not only accommodated but are empowered to participate fully and equitably.
