***Nagsasa Cove — Where God Turns Ashes into Beauty***
There are places that leave you amazed, and there are places that quietly remind you of who God is. For me, Nagsasa Cove in San Antonio, Zambales became one of those places.
As our boat slowly approached the shore, I was greeted by crystal-clear waters, majestic mountains, and rows of agoho trees dancing with the wind. Everything looked so peaceful that it was difficult to imagine this place once experienced devastation. Standing on its shore, I realized that I was witnessing one of God's greatest reminders—that He is able to bring beauty even from the deepest destruction.
Many years ago, Nagsasa Cove looked very different. Before 1991, its shoreline was mostly rocky and surrounded by lush tropical forests inhabited by Aeta communities. Then came the historic eruption of Mount Pinatubo on June 15, 1991. The eruption covered nearby areas with volcanic ash, and heavy rains carried massive lahars that reshaped the landscape. What was once a rocky coastline gradually became the wide sandy cove that visitors admire today.
As I looked across the mountains embracing the cove, I couldn't help but reflect on Isaiah 61:3, where God promises to give His people "beauty instead of ashes." Nagsasa Cove is more than a tourist destination—it is a living illustration of that promise. Nature itself tells a story of redemption. What seemed like an ending became the beginning of something breathtaking.
During my visit, I found myself slowing down. Away from the noise of the city and the distractions of everyday life, I heard the gentle sound of the waves and felt the cool breeze that reminded me of God's quiet presence. Sometimes, God speaks not through earthquakes or storms, but through stillness. In the silence of Nagsasa, I found peace that words cannot fully describe.
The mountains surrounding the cove reminded me of God's protection. The endless horizon reminded me that His plans are always greater than what my eyes can see. Every wave that reached the shore whispered of His faithfulness—constant, steady, and unchanging.

As I left Nagsasa Cove, I carried more than photographs. I carried a renewed faith. If God can transform a place covered in volcanic ash into one of the most beautiful coves in the Philippines, then surely He can transform every broken chapter of our lives.
Our lives may experience seasons of storms, loss, and disappointment. But God is the Master Artist. He never wastes the ashes. In His perfect time, He turns them into testimonies.
