Destined At Last

In my fifties, when days felt slow and long,
I saw you forties young, gentle and strong.
One look, one glance, and my heart knew right then.
Love at first sight, pure and true, once again.

No slow steps taken, no waiting to start,
We fell so fast, soul linked to heart.
We both dream one wish, clear and bright:
To be each other’s last love, last sight.

Through all the years left, come sun or rain,
We are the ending we both longed to gain.
No need for more time, no need for delay
You are my forever, my chosen way.

Love Came Late

Years have passed, the hours turned slow,
I walked through days I thought I’d go
Without the warmth of love’s true light,
Just waiting through the day and night.

But time knows best, it holds its gift,
It does not hurry, does not shift
At 50, when skies felt calm,
You came to me, my heart’s own charm.

Better late than never, they always say,
But for us, it’s perfect in every way.
Time kept the best until this hour
True love blooms strongest, when ripe and sure.
