Morning Prayer
Jul 11, 2025
Friday
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. ⏤ Psalm 143:8
Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary in order to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive Him. ⏤ E.M. Bounds
Almighty God, our Father, another day has begun, and we want to start it with You. If we spend a little time talking with You, we’ll be ready to face whatever comes our way. If we can look into Your face and feel Your presence with us, we won’t be afraid to face any danger.
We thank You for the rest we had last night. Many people didn’t make it through the night—but here we are, alive and well. Now, we give ourselves to You for this new day. We want to make it a holy day, and we ask for the grace to do so. May Your word guide our steps and light our path. Let its teachings stay in our hearts, and give us the grace to follow them. Lead us according to Your word. Don’t let sin control us. Don’t take Your Holy Spirit away from us. Restore the joy of Your salvation to us.
Our trust is in Jesus Christ alone. We’re not worthy on our own, because we’ve sinned and our hearts are flawed. But Jesus died for us, and in His name, we come to You, asking for Your favor and blessing. We thank You for Your love, from which nothing—neither death nor life—can separate us. May we remain in Your love, and may Your peace always be with us.
We ask for a blessing on everyone we interact with today. Help them become Your friends. Draw them closer to You. Help us to live in a way that makes them think of You and the realities of Heaven. May we speak Your words to those who are hurting or lost, and may Your grace and peace flow through us to others. We place our hands in Yours as we go out today. Lead us, bless us, keep us, and use us! We ask in Jesus' precious name. Amen.

O God of Bethel, God of our fathers, be our God. Bless us, make Your face to shine upon us, and be gracious unto us. Lift up the light of Your countenance
