Campus Journalists from various schools of Pasig trained in a seminar-woskhop entitled "𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦: 𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺-𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘨 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺" organized by Pasig City Youth Development Office (PCYDO) on 11th and 12th of September.

The workshop aims to empower the student journalists in various faculties like critical thinking, information analysis, and combating misleading informations. Focus discussions were also given on categories like News Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, Photojournalism, and Newspaper Layouting.

The second day of the event highlights the application of knowledge that is done by the participants through Collaborative Desktop Publishing. Guests Speakers then critique and comment on the works of the students.

Windswept in Antipolo with the 𝘽𝙪𝙙𝙤𝙩𝙨 music thudding hardly on each ear, resembling the feeling of a flying dove in turbulence, as the jeeps swerve rapidly along the highways.

Bustled buttocks in Manila under frustrated atmospheres as Manong Driver yells, “𝘒𝘢𝘴𝘺𝘢 𝘱𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘯! 𝘜𝘴𝘰𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘰.”

Drowsy heads nodding off, hands loosely clutching phones with a Messenger tab open around Quiapo, trying to text after a long day serving at their 8-5 jobs.

Every day, these are scenes that are being seen, but naked eyes cannot tell what it truly means.

By glancing at a jeepney window, a person can perceive. From the minute commuters enter until they leave, one can realize that the specks of fabric dust were not the only thing sealed in each seat.

There was more, there was 𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙚.

“𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶 𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮'𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗴𝗮..” (𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀)

A post from TikTok encapsulated the gist of the Filipino Jeepney Culture by asking netizens on what their favorite part is when they ride the national vehicle.

“𝘠𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘣𝘪𝘵 𝘯𝘢 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘢, 𝘢𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘢 𝘺𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘵𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘣𝘪 𝘯𝘨 ‘𝘬𝘶𝘺𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘭𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘢’”, a comment stated.

Beyond TikTok comments, a Home Economics (HE) Senior High School student, alias “Shani”, also personally shared one of her best jeepney ride moments that, by the time, was bound to Kapasigan, Pasig City —

This proves that commuting is truly a fragile matter that can be changed in a blink of an eye. Nevertheless, these experiences also show how Filipino commuters make priority of those in need, especially to women, children and the elderly.

“𝗔𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝘁..” (𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻)

Albeit pure intentions, jeepneys can often be a platform of mischief and harassment.

According to a 2016 United Nations (UN) Women survey in Quezon City, Metro Manila, 70% of young girls (12-17) and 90% of young women (18-24) had experienced sexual harassment, especially in public transport, such as jeepneys, with many victims not reporting it.

This is mainly the reason why safety and precaution should, at all times, be kept in the mind of both drivers and passengers.

The modernization of Philippine Transportation plays a crucial role in declining violence as it progresses. Jeepneys are now gradually becoming more secure and efficient, creating an extra sheltered environment for travelers.

“𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼 𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲..” (𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴)

By the amalgamation of these experiences, a conclusion can be made that jeepneys do not only serve as a mode of transportation, but often as a joint solitude for those who just had a long day and a day just starting.

It may be place where passengers share moments of rush and fatigue, but after everything, there is unity in relief.

Relief that they did not miss the ride to school or work.
Relief that they can now go home and be with their loved ones.
Relief that it started and ended in the same way as yesterday.

Jeepneys are a microcosm of society.

How Filipino commuters act within it is a symbol of an identity and an unspoken culture that emits resilience, empathy and compassion even in the simplest form.

The first quarter has finally come to an end, leaving behind a trail of sleepless nights, hurried notes, and quiet victories that only we truly understand. It wasn’t just about memorizing lessons or chasing deadlines—it was about dragging ourselves out of bed even when we were tired, showing up to class despite the weight of stress, and trying again after every failure.

Some of us celebrate grades we worked hard for; others carry the sting of numbers that didn’t reflect the effort we poured in. But no matter the outcome, each page of this semester was filled with determination, resilience, and growth.

Now, as we step into the break, we carry more than just notebooks and unfinished requirements—we carry the lessons that shaped us, the laughter that kept us going, and the hope that the next chapter will be kinder, brighter, and even more meaningful.

The first chapter closes, but the story of our journey continues—waiting for us to write it with courage, inked with persistence, and highlighted by hope.

The 1st Quarter Card Distribution was held on September 12, 2025—a day of smiles, joys, and quiet reflections.

For every student, each card was not merely about numbers—it was a testament of perseverance, dedication, and hard work during the 1st quarter.

Teachers and parents reminded students that grades do not define who they are, but rather serve as stepping stones toward growth improvement and continuous learning.

As this chapter comes to a close, may students carry with them the lessons, effort, and determination that will guide them into the next quarter.

Always remember: progress—no matter how small—is still a step forward.

A flightless bird who dreams so high.
To spread his wings and soar the sky.
To flock with its kind the same other does.
But born to stand in the ground they grasp.

A system that passed down through its kind.
Changed by nature over time.
But what does one do, for his life?
Forced to adapt just to survive.

Is it his wings too short to flap?
Is it his size too heavy to lift?
I wish when he’s happy he could clap,
So then it would be better not to fit.

At least its wings still has use than to fly,
Or maybe that’s all he could do with it.
At last he still sees the beautiful sky,
Above the ground as the sunset fleets.

I know these rhymes cannot change
The fact this flightless bird can’t wave,
Or maybe there is really nothing to wait,
To appreciate itself before it’s too late.

In the end a bird is a bird.
They have beaks, talons and feathers.
Each one has wings but differ in looks,
And it’s up to them to discover its use.

Santolan High School (SHS) students joined the Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill last Thursday, September 11 at 4:00 PM, showcasing unity and readiness in times of disaster.

The activity highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness and earthquake safety. Students practiced the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” and carried out proper evacuation.

It also assessed the emergency response protocols and coordination, emphasizing the importance of preparedness in saving lives during real earthquakes.

I remember sitting there, staring at the paper on my desk. Red ink circled at the number that was supposed to sum up all the nights I stayed awake, all the hours I forced my tired eyes to read line after line. My teacher’s voice faded into the background; the only sound I could hear was the thud of my own heartbeat.

“It's just a grade, it doesn’t define you,” someone whispered beside me, as if those words could erase the storm inside my chest.

But they didn’t know. They didn’t see the mornings when I dragged myself out of bed half-asleep, still clinging to the hope that maybe today’s lesson would finally make sense. They didn’t see the sacrifices—the gatherings I skipped, the hobbies I abandoned, the quiet moments I traded away. They didn’t hear the silent prayers I whispered every time I felt too weak to continue. In short, they don’t know how I feel.

The number on the paper—it wasn’t just a grade. It was my struggle compressed into a single mark. It carried the weight of my parents’ expectations, the unspoken pressure to prove myself, and the fragile belief that maybe, if I tried hard enough, I could finally be enough.

And so, I held the paper tighter, not out of pride , but because I knew what it meant. It was more than ink. It was a proof of how hard I had fought—of how much of myself I had poured into something the world might never fully see.

So I rise, not because it's easy, but because I refuse to let a grade decide my worth.

𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗥𝗬 | 𝗔 𝗣𝗢𝗘𝗧 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗔 𝗟𝗔𝗗𝗬

Love stories are often told as beautiful tales of two souls dancing together to the rhyhm of love. But what happens when one is dancing?

“A Poet and a Lady” shows what a one-sided love looks like in the lover’s perspective. It captures the fears of someone torn between silence and confession-uncertain whether to reveal their heart or to hide it, aftaid of the hope that may already be slipping away.

Some of you may have experienced this kind of love but you really need to ask yourself, “What if I had just told him/her how I felt”. Someday you may look back on it and either feel bliss or regret.

After all, as Lucille Ball said, I'd rather regret the things I’ve done than regret the things I haven’t done.
