She learns to speak up for her kids – on the playground when another kid isn't being nice, and her child is too young to notice,
after school to address any issues he’s having at school with paying attention, or if he's falling behind, anything,
at a playdate when her child doesn’t get the snack she wants.
But since she was a little girl, she was taught by society,
not to make waves,
not to fuss or be an inconvenience,
or to make others unhappy or uncomfortable.
So sometimes it’s hard for her to do,
with that little voice whispering in the back of her head.
But a mom needs to speak up.
Because she’s a voice for her children.
Because she knows their strengths and challenges better than anyone else.
Because she wants what’s best for them.
And her perspective adds the biggest piece to the puzzle when it comes to her children in any situation.
So even the shy mom will find her voice—asking questions, raising concerns, and asking for help—when it comes to her kids because her love for them will make her fight her insecurities.
Because a mom speaks up.
