Bakit wala pa rin kaming nakikita na violation notification sa May Huli Ka app? O ayaw i-share? 😅

From a reader: “I’d like to share a near-miss incident we experienced on June 15 at around 11:56am along SLEX northbound, near the Sucat Exit.

“We were driving in the leftmost (overtaking) lane when a black Toyota Vios up ahead suddenly stopped after apparently missing the Sucat Exit. The driver then attempted to cut across all lanes to reach the exit, causing vehicles across all lanes to brake hard. There was one vehicle between us and the Vios at the time.

“Because of the recent surge in accidents on SLEX, I’ve been extra cautious and make it a point to check my mirrors whenever traffic slows abruptly. I saw a black van behind us approaching quickly. Sensing the danger, I immediately swerved to the left shoulder. The van also swerved—this time to the middle lane—missing us by just a few feet. Fortunately, there were no vehicles in that lane at the time, avoiding what could have been a serious collision.

“I’m sharing this incident to raise awareness about the dangers of reckless last-minute decisions on expressways. Stopping suddenly and cutting across lanes puts everyone at risk. A missed exit is never worth endangering lives.

“I hope this serves as a reminder for all drivers to stay alert, plan exits in advance, and always prioritize safety over convenience.”

Mobility stories without the glare

VISOR, a website that publishes mobility-related content without the falsehood, without the drama and without the bu****it, is the brainchild of Filipino automotive journalist Vernon B. Sarne, who served as editor-in-chief of Top Gear Philippines from 2006 to 2016. Sarne has been covering the car industry since July 1995, when he joined a local motoring publication called Automotion. In between the aforementioned magazines, he wrote for the motoring section of Philippine Daily Inquirer, created and edited a car magazine called Rev, and edited the motoring section of The Manila Times. He also penned motoring columns for Esquire Philippines and BusinessWorld. Writing content for VISOR are auto industry insiders who provide an authoritative but entertaining take on a wide variety of mobility topics. Our writers and columnists include Frank Schuengel, Manskee Nascimento, Botchi Santos, Robert Anthony Siy, Vince S. Socco, Miggi Solidum, Sam Liuson, Marc Soong, Francis Aguila, Red Santiago, Andy Leuterio, Froilan Dytianquin and Jinno Rufino, among others.

The website, which went online on November 6, 2017, prides itself on its content quality and editorial integrity. It is divided into nine sections:

  • CARS: Discover all the automobiles that matter.

  • INDUSTRY: Learn about the automotive business.
