Outside
As many have mentioned, the movie doesn’t offer a clear backstory about what happened (This movie isn’t a typical teleserye ), nor does it explicitly refer to the characters as zombies. Traditionally, zombies are depicted as reanimated, mindless creatures driven by the need to consume human flesh. However, in this film, the characters can talk, so it’s not a traditional zombie story. Zombie movies nowadays portray them in different ways—previously, they were slow, but in some recent films, they can run.
What’s portrayed seems to be the result of a virus, not an apocalypse or the end of the world. It could be a new virus with symptoms unlike the typical zombie narratives. The movie goes beyond the idea of an outbreak; it focuses on the mental health of the characters and how they cope with extreme circumstances. For example, the father is a victim of domestic violence, and the film shows how his past trauma affects him. It’s not just another virus-driven story—it’s a layered exploration of personal and psychological struggles during crises.
I love the movie and how the cast portrayed their characters. It may not be perfect, but it’s a decent film. I appreciated the cinematography and the editing, and overall, I liked the direction. It’s not an expensive movie, but it doesn’t feel cheap compared to other Filipino films. Acting-wise, I liked their portrayals—"hindi minadali." The movie was shot more than a year ago, possibly in October of 2023, as I saw on the page of the hotel where the cast stayed. I’m especially fond of it because it was shot in my province. I even stayed in the same hotel as the actors and actresses during filming! I might have passed by the Acuña Hacienda House, where the scenes were filmed, but perhaps I didn’t notice it at the time. I plan to visit the location soon, and after watching, I even dreamed about it.
