𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | Student representatives from MSU-Sulu Senior High School joined fellow delegates for the Solidarity Night of the ongoing Provincial Youth Development Plan (PYDP) Writeshop 2025, held at Darus Salaam Hostel, Manpower, Indanan, Sulu.

The evening is set to foster camaraderie and connection among youth leaders from various Sangguniang Kabataan and youth organizations across the province — celebrating unity, collaboration, and the shared vision of empowering the Batah Sug.

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | 𝗞𝗖𝗖 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽

Two Grade 12 members of the Kulintangan Cultural Club (KCC) of MSU-Sulu Senior High School, Benyashir Mirah and Nurwiza D. Basari, represented the department in “A Future of Pangalay: An Intergenerational Workshop” held on October 18, 2025, at the Faculty Training Center, MSU-Sulu.

The event, organized by the Office of Culture and Traditions (OCT) in partnership with the Design Center of the Philippines, aimed to promote and preserve Pangalay, a traditional Tausug dance form.

The session featured lectures and live demonstrations led by OCT Director Prof. Karsharif I. Samad and staff member Mr. Wanadzmi B. Salahuddin. Participants from various schools across Sulu took part in the workshop and performance competition.

Mirah and Basari showcased their talent and cultural pride, earning recognition as Best Performers — Mirah as 1st Runner-up in the Male Category and Basari as 2nd Runner-up in the Female Category.

The activity concluded with the awarding of certificates and photo opportunities, reinforcing MSU-Sulu’s commitment to cultural preservation and youth participation in traditional arts. The initiative also supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — SDG 4: Quality Education, by fostering cultural learning and creative expression among students, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by safeguarding and promoting local cultural heritage.

Faculty officials from Mindanao State University-Sulu Senior High School participated in a two-day training workshop for school administrators on "Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum," held at the University of Immaculate Conception, Davao City, on October 16–17, 2025.

The participants included Assoc. Prof. Nur-In I. Alih, MSU-Sulu SHS Director; Mrs. Wijra S. Iyang, MSU-Sulu SHS Secretary; Mr. Mahmoudhar J. Hassan, Director for Auxiliary Services; Asst. Prof. Nurhida J. Alih, STEM Strand Coordinator; and Asst. Prof. Nurkintam U. Amirul, GAS Coordinator.

The training aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of the updated SHS curriculum- focusing on its framework, key features, and implementation strategies. It also sought to enhance the capacity of educators to design contextualized and to ensure smooth curriculum rollout through proper monitoring and evaluation. Collaboration among educators and industry partners was likewise emphasized in support of SHS goals.

This initiative reinforces MSU-Sulu’s commitment to quality education, professional growth, and alignment with the revised curriculum-
ensuring that teaching practices remain responsive, relevant, and attuned to the evolving needs of Filipino learners.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | Student representatives from MSU-Sulu Senior High School are taking part in the Provincial Youth Development Plan (PYDP) Writeshop 2025, organized by the Sulu Provincial Government through the Provincial Youth Development Office, which officially began today, October 18, at Darus Salaam Hostel, Manpower, Indanan, Sulu.

Running until October 20, the three-day writeshop gathers selected representatives from various Sangguniang Kabataan and youth organizations across Sulu. The MSU-Sulu SHS delegation includes members from the Supreme Student Council-SHS, IQRAʼ Publication, Science and Technology Club, and Arts Club, joining hands with fellow youth leaders in crafting the Sulu Provincial Youth Development Plan for the year 2026-2028.

𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗢𝗪 | Selected students of MSU-Sulu Senior High School are currently attending the seminar on cultural events, "The Future of Pangalay: Intergenerational Workshop," at the Faculty Training Center, today, October 18, 2025.

The event started at 8:40 a.m. and as of now, attendees are engaging in the activity, learning about the intricacies of Pangalay and its importance to Tausug culture, with the presence of the Director for Culture and Tradition, Prof. Karsharif I. Samad.

Selected secondary students from different institutions in Sulu are participating in this workshop, organized by the Office of Culture and Traditions in partnership with the Design Center of the Philippines.

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 | 𝗠𝗦𝗨-𝗦𝘂𝗹𝘂 𝗦𝗛𝗦 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 2025

The Mindanao State University-Sulu Senior High School celebrated the Science and Mathematics (SciMath) Month 2025 on October 17, 2025, at the Human Development Training Center, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

With the theme “Nurturing Scientific and Mathematical Understanding for a Progressive Future,” the event gathered students from MSU-Sulu SHS and neighboring schools, including Sulu College of Technology Incorporated (SCT Inc.), Sulu National High School (SNHS), and Jolo School of Fisheries (JSF), in a day filled with learning and competition.

The program opened with an invocation by Mr. Al-razeem T. Marajul, followed by the singing of national anthem and MSU-Sulu hymn.

Ms. Ayessa B. Jailani, Science Club Chairperson, delivered the opening remarks, while Assoc. Prof. Merhama Sammah, Director for Extension Services, shared an inspiring message. Ms. Roslina J. Rahimulla, SHS Research Coordinator, presented the event overview.

Resource Speaker 1, Dr. Fatima Shaira J. Balla, delivered a talk on “The Role of Science in Shaping a Future Ready Generation”. It was followed by an intermission by Noor-Yda I. Samad. Resource Speaker 2, Ms. Marjihada H. Sakili, MA-Math, then spoke on “Mathematics as the Language of Progression! From Theory to Application”.

In the afternoon, students showcased their knowledge and creativity through a Sci-Math Quiz Bee and Jingle Contest. Group 5 emerged as the overall winner in both competitions, demonstrating excellence in both intellect and innovation.

The celebration concluded with the awarding of certificates and a photo opportunity, capped by the closing remarks of Mr. Adzhar H. Ismael, Mathematics Club Chairperson.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure — the event highlighted the importance of science and mathematics in promoting critical thinking, innovation, and sustainable progress.

Meanwhile Ms. Dermayna A. Jamar served as the master of ceremony and the event’s success reflected the dedication of the Science and Technology Club and Mathematics Club officers, and the MSU-Sulu SHS faculty.

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | 𝗠𝗦𝗨-𝗦𝘂𝗹𝘂 𝗦𝗛𝗦 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽

On October 16, 2025, four students from the Senior High School Department of Mindanao State University-Sulu participated in a Debate Training-Workshop with the theme “Think Smart. Speak Brave. Debate with Heart.” This was organized by the MSU-Sulu Debate Society at the Human Development Training Center.

The participants were Nikman M. Muadjin and Sharifa Hanina D. Tan from Grade 12, and Nur-haqim Y. Baddiri and Khadiza M. Abdurakil from Grade 11. They were joined by the participants coming from various colleges and the Laboratory High School.

This activity aimed to develop participants’ critical thinking, confidence, and public speaking skills.

Dr. Fatima Shaina Sadjari-Dammang, LPT, MAEd, served as the resource speaker. This was also attended by University Chancellor Nagder J. Abdurahman, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance Abuzamier A. Asanji, and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Norman A. Abdurahman.

The workshop consisted of two sessions: “Debate with Heart,” delivered by MSU-Sulu Debate Society Adviser Fatima Ayesha M. Ventura-Nasir, and “Introduction to Debate,” led by Dr. Sadjari-Dammang. Participants also took part in a mock debate to apply the concepts discussed.

The session ended with a message from Dr. Sadjari-Dammang and the distribution of certificates and tokens at 12:00 noon.

The event aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by promoting inclusive learning, equal participation, and responsible citizenship.
