THE SAVIOR'S ALTAR
The Altars of Jesus -John 17
"The Greatest Prayer Ever Prayed
"The High Priestly Prayer"
v3.Eternal life is to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, the one you sent.
A. THE ALTAR FOR HIMSELF
1. Glorification
Verse 1: “After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: ‘Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.’”
Jesus ask God to glorify him. meaning to manifest His divine glory to the world, so that he, in turn can glorify the Father.
This mutual glorification emphasizes the unity and harmony between the members of the Trinity, demonstrating the inseparable bond they share.
“Ang pagbibigayan ng luwalhati ay nagpapakita ng pagkakaisa at pagkakasundo ng Trinidad, at ng matibay na ugnayan na hindi maaaring paghiwalayin.”
2. Mission Accomplished
He acknowledges that the time has come to fulfill God’s work, which will lead to his own glorification through the cross
3. Eternal Glory
Jesus glory with the Father is from eternity, and He came to earth to bring glory to God and to believers to glory with the Father.
"Ang kaluwalhatian ni Jesus ay kasama na ng Ama mula pa sa walang hanggan, at Siya’y naparito upang luwalhatiin ang Diyos at ibahagi ang kaluwalhatian na ito sa mga mananampalataya.”
B. THE ALTAR FOR HIS DISCIPLES
1. Protection &Sanctification of His Disciples
John 17:15 - My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.
15 Hindi ko idinadalanging kunin mo sila sa sanlibutan, kundi iligtas mo sila sa Masama! 16 Hindi sila taga-sanlibutan, tulad ko na hindi rin taga-sanlibutan.
2.Receiving God’s Word of His Disciples
John 17:17-Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
Pakabanalin mo sila sa katotohanan: ang salita mo'y katotohanan.
Jesus ask the Father to protect His disciples and sanctify them through the truth, as they are in the world.
He prays that they receive and hold onto the Word of God, which is the truth and power of God.
3. Oneness with God
Juan 17:21 -maging isa nawa sila sa atin upang ang sanlibutan ay maniwala na ikaw ang nagsugo sa akin.
Jesus desires that His disciples be one with Him and God, reflecting
the same divine unity He share with the Father.
C. ALTAR FOR ALL BELIEVERS
I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me
through their word-John 17: 20-23
1. Love and Unity
Jesus prayed for all future believers (vv. 20–26) – that they may experience unity and love, reflecting the oneness of the Trinity
22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity.
22 Ibinigay ko na sa kanila ang kaluwalhatiang ibinigay mo sa akin upang sila'y ganap na maging isa, tulad mo at ako na iisa:
2. EXPERIECING GOD
He prays that they would have an intimate experiential knowledge of God, forming a new, internal covenant with God.
"Ipinapanalangin niya na magkaroon sila ng malalim at personal
na karanasan sa Diyos, na magbubunga ng isang bago at panloob na tipan sa Kanya.
3. CONTINUED MISSION
25Good Father, the people of this world don't know you. But I know you, and my followers know that you sent me. 26I told them what you are like, and I will tell them even more
25 Makatarungang Ama, hindi ka kilala ng sanlibutan, ngunit kilala kita, at alam rin ng mga ibinigay mo sa akin na ikaw ang nagsugo sa akin. 26 Ipinahayag ko na sa kanila kung sino ka, at patuloy ko itong ipapahayag.
He asks that they would be sent into the world to continue His mission, reflecting His glory and bringing God glory.
"Hinihiling niya na sila'y maipadala sa sanlibutan upang ipagpatuloy ang Kanyang misyon, na magpakita ng Kanyang kaluwalhatian at magbigay luwalhati sa Diyos."
The altar of John 17 is invisible but eternal—a place where Jesus lays down His heart before the Father.
It invites us to pray with depth, to seek unity, and to live consecrated lives.
It reminds us that Jesus didn’t just die for us—He prayed for you!
Father, I want everyone you have given me to be with me, wherever I am. Then they will see the glory you have given me,
“Ama, sila na ibinigay mo sa akin ay nais kong makasama sa kinaroroonan ko upang mapagmasdan nila ang kaluwalhatiang ibinigay mo sa akin.
JESUS LOVES YOU SO MUCH!
