𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗢𝗥’𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘 | 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 “𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀”

The Pili Nut, the official publication of the College of Development Education, stands firm in its commitment to inform, uphold the truth, and amplify the voice of the student body. Through our reports and editorials, we seek not only to deliver relevant news and updates but also to shed light on matters that directly affect our college community.

The recently published editorial article titled “Hypocrisy of Role Models” has sparked meaningful and heated discussions among our fellow students and the public. We are deeply grateful for your overwhelming support, as well as for the concerns you have shared and exposed. We believe that your active engagement reaffirms the importance of student journalism in raising awareness and calling attention to issues that matter. This being said, the college administration has called in the editorial board and we are now mutually and actively engaging on solutions to be implemented on resolving the issue.

Now, The Pili Nut would like to clarify that the article was ethically and critically published not to defame, degrade or undermine the integrity of the college or anyone, but to criticize unprincipled remarks that had been delivered before the students present in the consultation meeting. We once again put emphasis on the need of authorities’ proper and professional response to any inquiries of the students that they are serving.

As we move forward, we encourage everyone to continue participating in dialogue with integrity, humility, and mutual respect. Let us work together in building a culture that upholds truth and accountability, while promoting peace over hate. In doing so, we strengthen not only our publication but also the very foundation of our college community.

𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 | 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀

The College of Development Education (CDE) prides itself as the home of future educators. Yet, a recent consultation meeting held at the CDE Quadrangle on September 11, 2025, revealed a disturbing contradiction between what is preached and what is practiced.

The meeting, attended by student leaders and class officers, was supposed to be a platform to raise concerns. Instead, it exposed the deep-rooted issues of misogyny, censorship, and misplaced priorities within the college. When a publication member raised concerns on cross-dressing and freedom of expression, a faculty member responded with a misogynistic remark: “𝘒𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢-𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘳𝘵 𝘬𝘢 𝘵𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘱𝘦𝘬𝘭𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯…” followed by laughter and the excuse that it was “just a joke.” But such jokes are never innocent; they perpetuate discrimination and normalize ridicule and bullying. The irony? This same faculty member insisted that teachers must uphold decency and act as role models. Is decency only a matter of skirt lengths, but not of words that wound?

Equally alarming was the dismissal of the student publication’s struggle for resources. One faculty bluntly said that publishing a newspaper is a “𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺.” This statement not only invalidates the efforts of student journalists who keep the tradition of campus press alive despite scarce funding, but also contradicts the role of publications in holding institutions accountable. Without a free and supported press, what future are we building for education? One where silence is rewarded and truth is punished?

Let it be clear: the student publication has long served the college, producing outputs that are even used for accreditation. And yet, its members work without proper equipment, often borrowing cameras and sacrificing their own resources. To belittle their work is not only unjust, it is hypocritical.

We must ask: what kind of teachers are we being trained to become? If future educators are judged not by their competence but by their clothing, then the very essence of teaching is being distorted. The effectiveness of an educator is not measured by fabric or fashion, but by compassion, integrity, and wisdom.

Worse, the attempt to censor student writers by requiring them to consult with faculty before releasing articles blatantly violates the Campus Journalism Act of 1991 (RA 7079). This law protects press freedom and prohibits administrative interference. To suppress journalism is to silence student voices, and to silence students is to deny education itself.

The CDE must reflect. True decency is not about skirts or haircuts, it is about respect. True role models are not those who hide behind authority, but those who use it to uplift, not to humiliate. And true education is not about producing compliant graduates, but courageous students who speak, write, and act with integrity.

It is time for re-assessment; not of students’ clothes, but of teachers’ words and actions.

𝚁𝚎𝚊𝚙𝚘𝚛, Propesor ng FS2 kaugnay ng paglalahad sa layunin ng palihan, at ang pagpapakilala ng susíng-tagapanayam na pinangunahan naman ni 𝙱𝚋. 𝚂𝚑𝚊𝚗𝚎𝚕𝚎𝚎𝚗 𝙽. 𝙽𝚞ñ𝚎𝚣, Pangulo, BSEd - 4A. Ang unang susíng-tagapanayam ay si kapita-pitagang 𝚅𝚒𝚟𝚒𝚊𝚗 𝙲. Kasabay rin nito ang pagkikintal ng mga makabuluhang kaalaman na nangyayari sa loob ng silid-aralan.

Nagtapos ang programa sa pampinid na pananalita ni 𝙳𝚛. 𝙼𝚢𝚛𝚊 𝙻𝚞𝚣 𝙷𝚘𝚖𝚒𝚕𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚘, Propesor ng FS2. Ang programa ay magdudulot ng malaking epekto para sa mga mag-aaral ng FS2 na magagamit nila sa pinagdadalubhasaang laráng at maarok ang pamantayang taglay ng luntiang pamantasan.

PILI, CAMARINES SUR – The College of Development Education (CDE) of the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture–Pili Campus conducted its annual student orientation seminar, SULONG 2025, on August 28, 2025, at the CBSUA LRV Student Atrium. The event aimed to orient students on the university’s policies, programs, and activities for the new academic year.

Before the formal program, a promotional video prepared by the League of Future Mathematics Teachers (LFMT) was shown through an audiovisual presentation. Assoc. Prof. Karen B. Perez, Dean of the College of Development Education, then delivered the welcome remarks, followed by a message from OIC Campus Administrator and Dean of the College of Economics and Management, Mr. Edmundo Casaul. Former CDE Dean and current Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Melinda Parro-Pan, also delivered her message.

The event likewise served as a venue for the college to introduce to students and stakeholders the university’s new Philosophy, Vision, Mission, and Goals (PVMG), along with its Integrated Management Policy. Faculty members, staff, and the BEED, BSED, and BTVTED programs were also introduced through an audiovisual presentation.

One of the highlights of the orientation was the discussion of academic policies by Dr. Kennedy A. Beltran. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) from the 2019 student handbook were also addressed and clarified by Dr. Rey-Mark G. Basagre.

Meanwhile, student organizations—including the League of Pre-Service Elementary Educators (LPEE), Guild of English Majors (GEMS), Science Teachers Active Regents (STAR), Masining na Pagpapahayag (RETORIKA), LFMT, and the CDE-SC—presented their reports and initiatives.

In the afternoon, academic organizations facilitated a series of games. The winners were as follows:

• Monkey-Monkey Relay (LPEE): 1st – LFMT; 2nd – STAR; 3rd – BTVTED

• Bee Smart: Quiz Showdown (GEMS): 1st – LFMT; 2nd – RETORIKA; 3rd – BTVTED

• Caterpillar Balloon Race (STAR): 1st – STAR; 2nd – LPEE; 3rd – GEMS

• Baybayin (RETORIKA): 1st – LFMT; 2nd – GEMS; 3rd – RETORIKA & STAR

• Eduk-Chant (LFMT): 1st – GEMS; 2nd – RETORIKA; 3rd – STAR

• Action Relay (BTVTED): 1st – LPEE; 2nd – GEMS & RETORIKA; 3rd – LFMT

The Guild of English Majors (GEMS) emerged as the overall champion, followed by STAR as first runner-up, LFMT as second runner-up, RETORIKA as third runner-up, LPEE in fifth place, and BTVTED in sixth place.

The orientation concluded with the awarding of certificates to winners and the closing remarks from Dean Perez.

𝗖𝗗𝗘-𝗦𝗖 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗲 𝗔𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

Aspiring student leaders of the College of Development Education Student Council (CDE-SC) of the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture - Pili conducted their Miting de Avance on August 27, 2025, at the Main Gathering Hall of the University’s Student Center.

A total of 11 candidates were formally introduced during the event—four vying for positions in the Executive Branch and seven seeking seats in the Legislative Branch. Each presented their platforms and outlined their plans should they be elected to office.

The activity served as a venue for candidates to share their advocacies, present their programs of governance, and engage with the student body in preparation for the upcoming CDE-SC elections.

𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗢𝗪 | Students and faculty of the College of Development Education of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture–Pili are gathered today, August 28, 2025, at the CBSUA LRV Student Atrium for their event titled SULONG: The Annual CDE Student Orientation Seminar.

This whole-day event aims to equip students with knowledge of relevant policies and to provide an avenue for the various academic organizations in the college to present their accomplishment reports.

Pili Municipal Mayor Marivic Solano announced through official page that work in government offices, as well as 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀 in both public and private schools in Pili, Camarines Sur, 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄, 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱.

The advisory also reminded the public to observe discipline and take necessary precautionary measures while traveling.

𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗸𝗮𝘀, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝘀, 𝗔𝗴𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗼 𝟮𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗼 𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻, gayundin ang trabaho sa lahat ng tanggapan ng pamahalaan sa buong lalawigan ng Camarines Sur.

Ang naturang anunsyo ay base sa inilabas ng Higos Pili at ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa kanilang pages, bilang tugon sa masamang lagay ng panahon na kasalukuyang nararanasan, batay sa ulat ng PAGASA.

Pinapayuhan ang publiko na manatiling alerto, sumubaybay sa mga opisyal na abiso, at laging mag-ingat para sa kaligtasan ng lahat.

𝗔𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗶 🇵🇭

Maraming panahon na ang lumipas, ngunit mayroon pa ring mga taong tila hindi natin malimutan— mga bayaning tumatak at patuloy na nag-aalab ang diwa sa ating puso’t isipan. Sila’y patuloy na nagpapaalala sa atin ng kahalagahan ng kalayaan, at kung paano ito matapang na ipinaglaban para sa kasarinlan ng ating minamahal na bayan.

Sila ang ating magigiting na bayani, na buong pusong inialay ang kanilang buhay para sa iisang layunin— ang paglaya at pag-unlad ng sambayanang Pilipino.

Ngayong Agosto 25, 2025, sabay-sabay nating ipagdiwang ang Araw ng mga Bayani— isang mahalagang paalala ng kabayanihan, sakripisyo, at wagas na pagmamahal sa bayan ng mga Pilipinong nag-alay ng kanilang panahon, talino, at buhay para sa ikabubuti ng bansa.

Sa araw na ito, alalahanin natin na ang pagiging bayani ay hindi lamang nasusukat sa mga malalaking gawa, kun'di sa araw-araw na pagkilos na may malasakit, dangal, at integridad. Nawa’y hindi tayo maghintay ng iba upang kumilos para sa bayan, sapagkat ang bawat isa sa atin ay may tungkuling dapat gampanan sa iisang lahi, iisang bansa.

Maging inspirasyon nawa ang ating mga bayani— mula noon hanggang ngayon— upang tayo rin ay maging ilaw, gabay, at lakas ng ating Inang Bayan.

Mabuhay ang mga bayani ng nakaraan, kasalukuyan, at hinaharap!

Inaasahang makararanas ng mahabang weekend ang mga mag-aaral at kawani ng Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) - Pili Campus ngayong Agosto bunsod ng dalawang pambansang holiday at nakatakdang power interruption.

Sa Huwebes, Agosto 21, 2025, ipagdiriwang ang Ninoy Aquino Day, isang special non-working holiday alinsunod sa Republic Act 9256 bilang paggunita kay dating Senador Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. Dahil dito, suspendido ang regular na klase at trabaho sa nasabing araw.

Samantala, sa Biyernes, Agosto 22, 2025, inaasahan ang power interruption na isasagawa sa ilang barangay sa Pili, kabilang ang San Jose. Kaugnay nito, nagpasya ang administrasyon ng CBSUA - Pili na gawing asynchronous na lamang ang pasok upang maiwasan ang aberya sa pagtuturo, batay sa kanilang inilabas na Memorandum bilang 08-119, serye ng 2025.

Pagsapit ng Lunes, Agosto 25, 2025, ipagdiriwang ang National Heroes’ Day o Araw ng mga Bayani, isang regular holiday na nakapaloob sa Republic Act 9492. Ginugunita sa araw na ito ang kabayanihan at sakripisyo ng lahat ng mga bayani sa ating bansa.

Dahil dito, inaasahan na magkakaroon ng sapat na oras ng pahinga ang mga mag-aaral at kawani, habang patuloy pa rin ang pag-aaral sa pamamagitan ng asynchronous classes sa Biyernes. Ang pansamantalang mga pangyayaring ito ay magsisilbing pagkakataon upang makapaghanda sila sa muling pagbabalik ng klase sa Agosto 26.
