𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝑴𝒕. 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒏 ⛰️
That perfectly sums up my experience hiking the highest peak in Aurora.
They say it's an 8/9 difficulty, but for me, the trail felt like a 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 9/9. There was no such thing as a "rest section"—just endless assaults from start to finish. 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬, 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐤, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐧-𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲.
Despite the recent rains, water sources were scarce. And for most of the hike, there were no sweeping views to keep you motivated—just the dense forest surrounding you every step of the way.
But the view? 𝑨𝒃𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒕 ✨
As beautiful as it was, I can't help but feel a little frustrated for not reaching the peaks. 🥹 I thought finishing Mt. Negron, another 9/9 mountain, had prepared me for anything. 𝐌𝐭. 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭.
More than anything, Mingan taught me the importance of coming fully prepared—both physically and mentally.
𝐇𝐚𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐤 1 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨-𝐡𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬—𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐮𝐲𝐬 𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐤! Your grit, determination, and positive energy made this challenging climb even more memorable.
Revenge hike? Maybe. But next time, I'll be stronger 💪🏔️
