Yesterday marked a significant and heartwarming occasion for the SMA community as the Induction of the newly elected PTA Officers was held during the Holy Mass. The sacred ceremony served not only as a moment of commitment to service and leadership, but also as a blessing-filled beginning for the officers as they take on their new responsibilities.

Following the Mass, a simple yet meaningful program took place—gathering parents, faculty, and staff in a celebration of unity and gratitude. The event also became an opportunity to bid farewell to the outgoing priests of the parish, who have been instrumental in guiding the spiritual journey of the SMA family. A humble despedida was held to honor their years of dedicated service and unwavering faith, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and inspiration that will continue to guide the community.

Despite the weather, the scheduled symposium successfully took place earlier today at SMA-P, centering on the topics of safe spaces, child protection laws, and mental health. With the theme “Thrive @ SMA: Building Resilience, Safety, and Holistic Development in Partnership with LGU,” the event aimed to raise awareness and strengthen the support systems surrounding student welfare.

Representatives from the Municipal Health Unit and the Philippine National Police served as the resource speakers, providing valuable insights on students’ rights, the importance of mental well-being, and available channels for seeking help. This initiative reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to creating a secure, lawful, and emotionally supportive environment. May this endeavor inspire us all to continue thriving with resilience and compassion.

NEW SHEPHERD FOR CEBU | The Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, has appointed Most Rev. Alberto S. Uy as the new Archbishop of Cebu, following the retirement of Most Rev. Jose S. Palma.

We give thanks for Archbishop Palma’s years of faithful service and welcome Archbishop Uy with joyful prayers as he begins his new mission of shepherding the Archdiocese of Cebu.

HABEMUS ARCHIEPISCOPUM NOVUM | The Holy Father Pope Leo XIV has appointed the Most Reverend Alberto “Abet” S. Uy as the new Archbishop of Cebu, following the retirement of Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma.

The announcement was made through the Vatican’s Daily Bulletin. Bishop Abet is a native of Ubay, Bohol. He obtained his Degree in Philosophy at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Tagbilaran, and finished his Theological Studies at St. John Mary Vianney Theological Seminary in Cagayan de Oro City. He obtained his Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

In 2016, he was appointed by Pope Francis as the Bishop of Tagbilaran. He is a huge environmental advocate, with a heart for the poor and the marginalized.

After the General and Homeroom Assemblies, the Executive Committee (EXECOM) Elections were held to select parent and teacher representatives who will assist in the planning and implementation of school activities. Guided by shared faith and commitment, each grade level chose members who will serve the school community through partnership and service.

The election was conducted in an orderly manner, with the selected EXECOM officers expected to work closely with the administration in supporting programs and addressing concerns, in the spirit of Christian cooperation.

𝐘𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐘 | 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐓𝐀 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲

Yesterday, the 1st General Assembly was held at the school quadrangle, marking the official opening of home-school collaboration for the academic year. The gathering served as a platform to present school updates, institutional goals, and upcoming programs, while also reinforcing the shared commitment between educators and parents in promoting the holistic development of every student.

Following the general session, parents proceeded to their respective classrooms for the Homeroom Assembly, where they were introduced to the class advisers and discussed specific classroom concerns, expectations, and student guidelines. This segment allowed for a more focused dialogue on student welfare, academic support, and parent involvement at the class level.

Earlier today, SMA-P proudly took part in this year's vibrant and meaningful Nutrition Month Poster-Making Contest, which was held at the Rural Health Unit Conference Room with the theme:"Food at Nutrition security maging priority! Sapat na pagkain Karapatan natin! ." Our fellow academicians—Angel Kate Casquejo and Kisha Denise Edoloverio—showcased their artistic skills and came in 3rd place.

This activity does not only focus on lines and forms, for it is an opportunity to promote profound understanding of proper nutrition. We applaud all students who have participated in this activity, but especially our fellow academicians with hard work and artistic voices to promote a healthier lifestyle for all!

Earlier today, students gathered at the Parish Multi-Purpose Hall for the Cerebro Orientation, an informative session introducing the academic platform that will support their learning throughout the school year. The sessions were led by the Resource Person, Ms. Gimelle Gonzalgo, who guided both junior and senior high school students through the platform’s key features—including access to digital modules, performance tracking, the Learning Management System (LMS), and tools for self-paced learning. In addition, the orientation introduced Cerebro’s integrated cashless system, which enables students to make secure and convenient transactions within the school.

The sessions emphasized the importance of digital responsibility and maximizing the platform’s tools to enhance academic success. By the end of the orientation, students were well-prepared to utilize Cerebro effectively in their daily academic routines.

Earlier today, teachers from Sta. Monica Academy and Academia de Nuestra Señora gathered for the PPST Seminar—an enriching engagement focused on collaboration, professional development, and the pursuit of teaching excellence.

The seminar was led by Mrs. Janet A. Fernandez, MA, who provided in-depth insights into the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). Through her expertise, participants gained a deeper understanding of the framework’s key principles, complemented by interactive discussions and reflective activities.

By fostering a culture of shared learning and reflective practice, the seminar reaffirmed the educators’ mission to advance effective teaching and uphold the highest standards in every classroom.

This afternoon, the campus held its Club Hunting activity, marking the official start of the enlistment period for both academic and non-academic organizations. Students were given the opportunity to sign up for their preferred clubs, signaling the beginning of their co-curricular engagement for the school year.
