Mayor Rafael Enrique P. Lazaro of Pototan, Iloilo expressed optimism again as the municipal government donated a 2,027‑square‑meter lot in Barangay Batuan to the Land Transportation Office Region VI (LTO‑6), paving the way for a new district office that will enhance services and bolster road‑safety initiatives for local residents.

In a ceremony held at the LTO-6 Conference Room, Mayor Lazaro and LTO‑6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II signed the deed of donation. The new LTO Pototan District Office will join several upcoming district offices in Western Visayas, including those in San Dionisio, Iloilo, and Ilog, Negros Occidental. Additionally, the existing LTO Extension Office in San Miguel, Iloilo, is slated for conversion into a full district office to better serve thousands of motorists in that area.

Director Geduspan thanked the Pototan Municipal Government for the generous land gift, noting that the new facility will reduce travel time for license renewals, plate releases, and other critical transactions. “Having a dedicated district office here will significantly improve turnaround times and strengthen our road‑safety programs,” he remarked.

Assistant Director Jeck D. Conlu called the development “a major leap forward in LTO‑6’s mission to champion road safety across Western Visayas,” emphasizing that easier access to LTO services encourages greater compliance with traffic regulations.
“We are committed to bringing essential LTO services closer to the communities,” stressed ARD Conlu.
“This donation reflects our partnership with the LGUs and our shared goal of safer, roads.”

Also presence were Pototan Municipal Administrator Atty. Robert Parcon, Ms. Ma. Charito A. Sarza, LTO‑6 Finance Division Chief; Ms. Ma. Nanette D. De Ocampo, Chief Administrative Officer; and Ms. Michelle Juanga, Human Resource Division Chief. The groundbreaking of the LTO Pototan District Office is expected to be held by the end of the month.

In line with the 30th Police Community Relations (PCR) Month Celebration, the Pototan Municipal Police Station led by PCPT JERSEY A BESAS, Officer-In-Charge successfully held the kick-off ceremony of the ADI Lazaro: All 3rd District Invitational Basketball League 2025 on July 4, 2025, 3:00PM, at the Pototan Astrodome.

The opening ceremony was actively participated in by various police stations from the 3rd District of Iloilo, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (RMFB 6), and the Philippine Coast Guard, showcasing camaraderie and sportsmanship among law enforcement agencies.

The program formally began with an opening prayer led by Pastor Rita Racho, a faith-based volunteer, setting a solemn and respectful tone for the event.

The activity was graced by the presence of Hon. Rafael Enrique P. Lazaro, Municipal Mayor of Pototan, who delivered an inspiring message of support and encouragement. The successful event was made possible through the collaborative efforts and unwavering support of the Local Government Unit (LGU) headed by Mayor Adi Lazaro, Hon. Joselito Ilisan, Vice Mayor, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, and the SK Federated President.

This event is not only the beginning of the basketball league but also served as a symbol of unity and community engagement, in line with the goals of PCR Month to strengthen the relationship between the police and the community through sports and meaningful activities.

The municipality of Pototan received a subsidy of P10 million from the Iloilo provincial government for the purchase of garbage compactor and dump truck which will boost the town’s solid waste management system.

Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Dennis Ventilacion turned over the check to Mayor Rafael Enrique Lazaro, Municipal Administrator Atty. Robert Parcon, MENRO chief Kent Roger Peñaflorida, and acting Municipal Treasurer Ofelia Parcon.

The assistance is expected to provide long-term benefits to the town, particularly in the proper collection and disposal of solid wastes, thereby improving the health and well-being of the residents.

SUCCESSFUL ENTRAPMENT OPERATION. 11 and PNP-CIDG 11 successfully conducted a joint entrapment operation against an illegal subdivision developer who was selling lots without proper permits.

The violation: Selling subdivision projects without a Certificate of Registration and License to Sell from DHSUD.

This is a reminder to all buyers - always verify that developers have the required permits before purchasing any property. Protect your investment and avoid legal troubles!

Police Report: Drug Buybust

A warm of applaused to our Pototan Municipal Police Station, its support unit IPPO PDEU 2 and RMFB 6 for another successfull buybust operation at Brgy. Zarrague, Pototan Iloilo. October 3, 2024 at around 8:33am, two suspects were arrested namely :
1• Ricky Porras y Magbanua (HVI) male, 48 yrs. Old (September 23, 1975), married, laborer, resident of Brgy. Zarrague Pototan, Iloilo (Surrenderee) and,
2• Rufino Cordero Tigullo, 23 yrs old (August 14, 1995), male, married and a resident of Brgy. Malusgod Pototan, Iloilo

Report shows that arrested persons sold to the poseur buyer one (1) sachet of suspected shabu.

Confiscation of estimated 70 grams of Shabu with Standard Drug Price of Php 476,000.00

Also recovered from two suspects possession and control are as follows:

1.One sachet of buy bust item

2.seven (7) sachets of suspected shabu(possession) ;

3. Four Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (Php 4,500.00) including buy bust money; and

3. Non drug items.

4. .22 Caliber revolver

5 5 pcs live ammunitions of .22 caliber

The inventory of seized items was conducted on site at the afforementioned Barangay witnessed by Brgy. Kagawad of Brgy Malusgod, Pototan, Iloilo and with presence of Media Representative. Arrested persons was apprised of their constitutional rights in a dialect known and understood by them. Arrested persons will be subsequently brought to the nearest hospital for medical examination and will undergone booking procedures prior to filling of the case.

Bantay dalan report: Hacking incident

At around 4:30 PM of September 22, 2024 Pototan Municipal Police Station received information that there was a hacking incident happened at Brgy. Palanguia, Pototan, Iloilo. Immediately our Police service personnel proceeded at the said place to assist and conduct investigation. Report shows that at about 4:00 PM of September 22, 2024 while the victim (Jeuz Aldema Parreño , 27 years old, with live-in partner and a resident of Brgy. Alegria, Di**le, Iloilo) and suspects (Jerol Pedregosa, 27 years old, with live in partner and Joebert Pedregosa 25 years old both resident of Brgy. Alegria, Di**le, Iloilo) having a heated arguments about land dispute a misunderstanding issued between the victim and the suspects, resulted to being chased by the suspects and hacked the victim hitting on different part of his body. Suspects fled to unknown direction. Hot pursuit operation conducted by the Pototan Municipal Police Station for possible arrest of the suspect.

Police Report:

At around 5:20 PM of September 9, 2024 suspect Romer Enore Rodrigo (38 yrs. Old, single, Laborer resident of Brgy. Cato-ogan, Pototan,Iloilo). was arrested and with confiscation of 13 grams (6,800.00 per gram) of Shabu with Standard Drug Price of Php 88,400.00.

Arrested person sold to the poseur buyer one (1) sachet of suspected shabu.

1.One sachet of buy bust item

2. Two (2) sachets of suspected shabu/possession) ;

3. One Thousand four Hundred Pesos (Php 1,400.00) including buy bust money; and

3. Non drug items.

Suspect is now detained at Pototan Municipal Police Station and will undergone procedures prior to filling of the case.
