The activity aimed to align the objectives and targets of the Cityโs Circular Economy Portfolio, with a strategic focus on Waste-to-Resource Innovation, and Eco-Tourism and Circular Hospitality.
As one of the first ten pilot LGUs under the EU-GEPP Green Economy Partnership with the Philippines, Puerto Princesa continues to pursue the shift toward a more sustainable and inclusive economy. The EU-GEPP is a five-year programme (2023โ2028) funded by the European Union and implemented by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in partnership with DILG, DTI, and DOE. It aims to accelerate the countryโs transition to a circular economy, promote renewable energy, reduce waste, and enhance climate resilience. Among its four key strategic pillars is the enhancement of circular economy practices at the local level through multi-stakeholder collaboration.
The workshop, held on July 10โ11, 2025, at the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) Conference Room, brought together key members of the Local Circular Economy Action Team (LCEAT), representatives from national government agencies (DENR, DOST), Project Zaccheaus, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Through this initiative, Puerto Princesa reaffirms its commitment to pursue innovative solutions to the challenges of waste management, sustainable resources, paving the way for a greener and more resilient future.
