🚨 1,600 hectares of land - carved out from Indigenous and farming communities in the Philippines - will be turned over to the U.S., Israel, and their allies for AI manufacturing, including war-tech.

Thousands of additional hectares across the country will be mined for critical minerals to feed this AI hub.

This is Pax Silica in the Philippines.

ILPS Philippines has initiated a call for global solidarity to reject the US-led Pax Silica.

We invite your organization to support the Filipino people: SHUT THE PAX DOWN! ✊

✍️ Read and sign our full statement here: https://bit.ly/ShutThePaxDown

We will publish the statement and the list of signing organizations on June 12, as the Philippines marks its sham Independence Day.

Long live international solidarity!

[To] student journalists:

I was once like you a decade ago.
Do not just write about the legacy. Be part of it."

β€œThe Prix Voltaire laureates and those shortlisted for the prize, have risked so much to publish the works of others and secure their freedom of expression in practice,” said IPA President Gvantsa Jobava, in a statement. β€œThey have faced exile, prison, harassment and intimidation, some have disappeared, some have been murdered. They risk all this to publish the writings of other people. To mark this 20th Anniversary of the Prix Voltaire we decided to add that as a tagline: β€˜Bravery in Publishing.’ Our twenty years of laureates, and our shortlist this year are indeed the bravest among us.”

Gantala Press is shortlisted in the prestigious 2026 Prix Voltaire, which has recognized bravery and resilience in publishing for 20 years. We are honored to be included in a stellar roster of international publishers committed to continue their work even under pressure, threats, or persecution. For 10 years now, Gantala Press has consistently published literature by Filipino women and activists amidst state-enforced silencing of human rights defenders.

πŸ“£ The 2026 IPA Prix Voltaire Shortlist has been officially announced at the World Expression Forum in Lillehammer, Norway.

This year's shortlist features six individuals and organisations who have demonstrated resilience and bravery.

The 2026 IPA Prix Voltaire Shortlist is πŸ”½

β–ͺ️Dar Al Jundi Publishing, Samir Al Jundi, Palestine
β–ͺ️El Maraya, Yehia Fekry, Egypt
β–ͺ️Freedom Letters, Georgy Urushadze, Russia
β–ͺ️Gantala Press, Faye Cura, Philippines
β–ͺ️KompasGuide, Vitali Ziusko, Russia
β–ͺ️Sam Yan Press, Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal, Thailand

✍️ For 20 years, the IPA Prix Voltaire has recognised bravery in publishing and the defence of free expression worldwide.

Freedom to publish is one of the founding principles of the IPA.
Its protection and promotion is one of IPA's key objectives. In many countries, publishers who provide authors with the means to disseminate their written ideas run the same risks as the writers themselves. Their work requires immense courage and a values-based, altruistic commitment.

2026 marks the 20th anniversary of this prestigious prize, which celebrates publishers who take personal risks to ensure authors’ voices are heard - even under pressure, threats, or persecution.

πŸ“ The 2026 Prix Voltaire ceremony will take place at the 35th International Publishers Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 5-9 July 2026.
