Chana Valconcha at Erika Garcia bilang Bireng
This is Chana Valconcha. She is a New Member and current Communications Deputy of PUP Sining-Lahi Polyrepertory. She is a 2022 Polyrep Standard awardee. Acting has been her huge childhood dream as she describes this as a way to travel into another world. As she took on her theater journey, she began appreciating more of this as a high form of art that allows important stories to be told. She is described to be a smart and playful actor. She also hopes to write lots of stage and screen plays in the near future. Her heart for storytelling was largely enhanced by PUP SLP, her theater home.
Standing along with her is Erika Garcia, an Apprentice of the 42nd Theater Season of PUP Sining-Lahi Polyrepertory. She is a Senior student of Bachelor of Performing Arts Major in Theater Arts with various experiences on different aspects of Theater Production inside and outside of the university such as but not limited to Directing, Production Management, Stage Management, and Dramaturgy. As an actress, she played several roles in theater stage and even in short films, from being main character, supporting role, and ensemble member from all the way back to Junior High School where she became part of Makati Science High School’s ILUSYON and in Senior High School where she became one of FEU High School’s Dulaang Tamaraw. She recently finished her internship at the Tanghalang Pilipino Foundation Inc. where she experienced working in the Marketing and Sales Unit of Nekropolis production, as well as in the Production Unit of Virgin Lab Fest 18. As an Artista ng Bayan and the newly-elected Artistic director of PUP Department of Performing Arts’ home organization—PUP Tanghalang Molave, Erika aims to put up more creative works and artistic productions that showcase the pure talents and real skills with commitment, passion, and discipline not just of herself but as well as the other artists she works with.
Catch Chana, a member of the Sound Committee, and Erika, a member of the House Committee, also play as Bireng of LABADA—written by Andrew Bonifacio Clete and directed by Bunny Cadag, to be staged for the first time on Oct. 11, 12, 13 at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM at Tanghalang PUP.
