𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 | An Ever-Evolving Saga

"Fire is catching. And if we burn... you burn with us!"

In 'The Hunger Games', Suzanne Collins crafts a gripping narrative of resistance against a totalitarian government, exposing the cruel excesses of capitalism and the stark disparities between the haves and the have-nots, where the privileged few indulge in sumptuous banquets while the marginalized majority fight for scraps.

Does that sound similar?

Our nation's present condition bears a striking resemblance to a dystopian society. While it may not exhibit the same level of explicit physical and literal oppression as depicted in books, it shares many parallels and metaphors.

People from various walks of life, such as students, members of the clergy, businessmen, public figures, and government employees.

Occupations that seem unrelated at first glance hold titles that evoke dignity, passion, and pride. Yet, on September 21, every presence will be acknowledged. Regardless of age, size, or individuality, no voice will be ignored. This is a fight to make ourselves heard, beyond colors, politics, or affiliations.

Together, all voices will be given a platform.

Countless protests have occurred, ignoring online backlash, with signs and slogans that hold more significance than online ordinances and the like, and with a call for truth that transcends social media.

The highly anticipated ultimate display of patriotism is set to make its grand finale appearance.

The day's events will begin with the "Baha sa Luneta: Aksyon na Laban sa Korapsyon" at Rizal Park in Manila at 9 a.m., organized by fierce students and various activist groups. Later, at 2 p.m., the "Trillion Peso March" will take place at the EDSA People Power Monument, led by church leaders with support from civil society and youth organizations.

The protest is not limited to those who attended; everyone can take part.

In our community, churches like Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish are hosting masses and prayer sessions, providing an opportunity for individuals to make a difference in their own unique way.

This act embodies the true spirit of unity.

They failed to stay true to what they delivered on their campaign promises. Instead, they offered an empty vision and sweet talk to lure voters in, only to leave them disillusioned. Now, they must face the consequences of breaking their promises to those who trusted them.

Today will be etched in history as the day our courageous, brilliant, and intelligent fellow Filipinos fought for what is right.

𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 | The Deadly Silence

If you stand for nothing, what will you fall for?

"Bayan o sarili, pumili ka!"

The iconic line of nationalism from 'Heneral Luna' continues to evoke strong emotions in our nation, its impact felt deeply even today.

The Philippines is reeling from a series of government scandals, ranging from questionable flood control budgets to the dramatic downfall of those in power. As a result, many Filipinos have awoken to the harsh realities of their country's situation. Yet, the pervasive 'crab mentality' in Filipino culture leads many to drag down others who seek to improve themselves or bring about positive change, often motivated by fear or unease, even if such change could ultimately benefit everyone.

Organizations are uniting to protest against corruption and the misappropriation of public funds, known as 'kaban ng bayan.' On September 13, 'skolar ng bayan,' comprising students from the University of the Philippines, held a walkout and assembled for a protest.

Online, these advocates are met with fierce criticism, as citizens call them out for hypocrisy and doubt the impact of protests and riots on creating real change.

I'm left wondering... where do their true loyalties lie?

Do they bear witness to the suffering of their own flesh and blood, whom they share with their ancestors, silently pleading for change that we recklessly discard on the streets? Or do they deliberately turn a blind eye, opting to live in a comfortable illusion of normalcy that those in power have instilled in their minds?

Do they not understand that they too will be impacted by this battle they didn't choose?

The government takes every peso earned and spent on necessities in the name of 'taxes for the greater good.' However, the reality is that this money is being squandered on extravagant vacations abroad and luxury items, which are proudly showcased on social media.

Choose. Are you willing to continue being trapped in this cycle of endless manipulation that only benefits a select few, or will you rise up in anger to demand a better life for yourself, your loved ones, and every Filipino?

Although your silence on corruption may be understandable, it's wrong to try to silence those who have the courage to expose it.

π’ππŽπ‘π“π’ | JPLSHS secures 1st victory vs CPGHS 1-0 in penalty shootout thriller

Bendanillo's decisive shootout led Jose P. Laurel Sr. High School (JPLSHS) to a 1-0 victory over Carlos P. Garcia High School (CPGHS) in the CDAMP Women's Futsal at the Congressional District III Athletic Meet Palarong 2025, at the Vito L. Belarmino Sports Complex, September 13.

JPLSHS secured a 1-for-5 penalty shootout record, scoring 1 point, whereas CPGHS went 0-for-5.

Goalkeeper Daniela Garcia showcased exceptional defense throughout the game, saving all attempted kicks.

"Sobrang saya dahil nanalo kasi hindi expected, kasi malakas din ang kalaban. Sobrang thankful kami dahil matagal namin itong pinaghandaan tapos nanalo kami," Garcia stressed.

- "Masaya po dahil nanalo kami, kahit na pressure ako kase madami pong taong sumisigaw at nanonood," Bendanillo said.

With her exceptional hustle defense, Garcia was awarded the Most Valuable Player title, having saved and caught all of the opponent's attempted shots throughout the game.

CPGHS relied on Patulay's strong offense and defense, which yielded 1 steal and 2 saves.

According to CPGHS Coach Mark Anthony Rafael, their pre-match preparation focused on enhancing the players' cardio and skills.

The coach highlighted the need to train and refine the player's skills to foster teamwork on game day. While he lauded his team's impressive performance, he regretted not addressing their anxiety, which was evident throughout.

Despite the loss, CPGHS delivered impressive performances, showcasing aggression on both defense and offense in the first half, which exposed JPLSHS's defensive struggles.

Patulay and Manayag were the driving force behind CPGHS's triumph, demonstrating their unrelenting passion to win through their impressive offense and defense.

Manayag's stellar defensive play, including several key steals, led to a Laurel timeout, and the team's struggles continued with a 4-second violation on the inbound.

In the second half, JPLSHS stepped up their game, through Garcia's impressive save from a free kick and Bendanillo's hustle play, stealing the ball from CPGHS and forcing a turnover, ending the quarter 0-0 and prompting a penalty shootout.

The tide turns in favor of JPLSHS as both Garcia and Bendanillo made crucial plays in the shootout against CPGHS, culminating in Daniela's winning save.

With their latest win under their belt, JPLSHS is set to compete in the division play women's Futsal on October 15.
