OZZY OSBOURNE, Heavy Metal Icon and Black Sabbath Frontman, Dies at 76
Birmingham, UK / July 22, 2025 – The music world mourns the loss of Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary “Prince of Darkness” and pioneering voice behind Black Sabbath. His family confirmed he passed away this morning, July 22, 2025, surrounded by loved ones “with more sadness than mere words can convey.”
Just three weeks ago, Osbourne delivered a poignant final performance alongside his original Black Sabbath bandmates—Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—during the Back to the Beginning benefit concert at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5, 2025. Seated on a grand “bat throne” due to his battle with Parkinson’s disease and spinal issues, he belted out classics including “Iron Man,” “War Pigs,” and “Paranoid.” The all-day extravaganza, hosted by Jason Momoa and featuring Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Pantera, Slayer, Tool and more, drew around 40,000 fans live and millions online—and raised over £140–£190 million for Parkinson’s research and children’s charities.
In his final years, Osbourne faced serious health challenges. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2003, he endured multiple surgical setbacks, including spinal operations, and retired from touring permanently in 2023. His monumental final concert was announced in February 2025 as his official farewell.
A statement from his family reads:
> “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Ozzy Osbourne redefined rock and metal, leaving a legacy unmatched in its influence. His death marks the end of an era—but his music, spirit, and impact on countless generations remain immortal.
