It’s another outstanding Cinemalaya season!
From Iti Mapukpukaw winning Best Film two years ago, Direk Carl Papa once again takes home the Best Film award—this time for his short, The Next 24 Hours.

And following another T6 co-produced film, Tumandok, which claimed the Best Film award last year and went on to win big at the recent Gawad Urian, Direk Noni Abao and team’s Bloom Where You Are Planted now clinches the Best Film for Full-Length.

It’s also a proud moment for other entries: Child No. 82 bagged three awards, including audience choice; Padamlagan was recognized for its Production Design; and Raging earned honors for its Cinematography and Sound Design by our trusted collaborator, Lamberto Casas Jr., supported by our sound technician, Kevin Padilla.

Congratulations to all the winners and finalists for bringing us another edition of strong and well-crafted films!

PANALO SA MGA MANUNURI! Southern Lantern Studios proudly garnered five awards for two of its films last year.

TUMANDOK by Richard and Kat Salvadico, which previously won Best Film from Cinemalaya, the Society of Filipino Film Reviewers, and the Young Critics’ Circle, received the most honors: Best Director for Richard Salvadico and Kat Sumagaysay-Salvadico, Best Screenplay for Arden Rod Condez and Kat Sumagaysay-Salvadico, Best Supporting Actor for the late Felipe Ganancial, and Best Musical Score for Paolo Almaden and the Atis of Kabankalan and Nagpana.

Meanwhile, BISAN ABO, WALA BILIN by Kyd Torato won Best Short Film.

Now in its 48th year, the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino is a reputable organization of film writers and critics committed to elevating the standards of Philippine cinema by critically assessing and recognizing outstanding works through the Gawad Urian awards.
