🌍 AFRICANS, LET’S PRAY FOR CAMEROON 🇨🇲💔
😱😱 Sometimes, when you look at a country’s story, it feels like a movie but for Cameroonians, this is not a movie. This is their reality.
Cameroon gained its independence in 1960, full of dreams and fresh hope for the future. Their first president, Ahmadou Ahidjo, led the young nation with vision and served as president for 22 years (1960–1982). For many Cameroonians, Ahidjo’s time was tough but organized — there was order, there was a sense that the country was finding its feet.
But then came 1982, a year that would change Cameroon forever. Ahidjo stepped down, and his successor was a man named Paul Biya. Nobody knew that this man, soft-spoken and calm, would hold on to power for as long as he has.
📜 Fast-forward 43 years later, Paul Biya is STILL the president of Cameroon.
Yes, you read that right. For 43 years, this man has ruled Cameroon, serving seven full terms as president. He is now 92 years old yet he is still the only leader most Cameroonians have ever known.
Now here comes the part that will make you stop and think. 😳
Paul Biya is currently campaigning for the October 12, 2025 Presidential Election, and if he wins, it will be his 8th term. His campaign slogan?
“Le Septennat des Grandes Expériences” — which means “The Seven-Year Term of Great Hope.”
But here’s the shocking part! Paul Biya has not made a single public appearance.
He doesn’t walk in public. He doesn’t talk in public. He can no longer stand for long periods. And yet, his name is on the ballot.
He has about 70% chances of winning again, meaning he could stay in power until 2032 — by which time he will be 99 years old, and Cameroon would have had him as president for 50 years straight.
Let that sink in. 😱💔
For a whole half-century, one man has been president.
Now imagine being a 40-year-old Cameroonian today, you have never known any president other than Paul Biya. You were born under him, went to school under him, married under him, and now your children are also growing up under him. For many Cameroonians, this feels like being stuck in time — like the country has been placed on pause.
And yet, people are scared to speak out. Protests are quickly crushed. The people have grown tired but also hopeless. Some say, “Maybe this is our destiny.” Others still pray and hope for a better tomorrow.
Cameroon is a beautiful country, rich in culture, rich in natural resources, blessed with football talents that shine worldwide, but the pain of political stagnation has left the nation frustrated.
This is why we say:
🙏 AFRICA, LET’S PRAY FOR CAMEROON.
Pray for the youth who feel trapped.
Pray for the mothers who just want a better future for their children.
Pray for the country’s democracy that seems to have been kidnapped for nearly five decades.
Because if Paul Biya wins again this October, history will be made — but not the kind of history the people are celebrating.
Cameroon needs hope. Cameroon needs change. Cameroon needs freedom. 😭
