Because PLDT is down, I had the pleasure of playing Beast of Reincarnation unpatched...
So my first imoressions are:
Performance is rough man, there are some wonky camera tracking during cutscenes, some jittering, stuttering, and the frame rate tanks during the opening "siege" sequence... The main character Emma can sometimes clip when junping on elevated terrain too...
Gameplay-wise, I like it - it's pretty okay, not the best out there, but when it clicks, it can be pretty cinematic... Parrying is satisfying, but not as satisfying as Sekiro or Wo Long, or Stellar Blade...
You can go stealth - sneak up on enemies and pretty much one-hit, delete basic enemies, though I gotta say, the enemy AI can be pretty dumb sometimes, it's like they can't see your character even if you run through or come close to their field of view, it's as if their detection distance varies, but I can't tell what in-game factors can affect it ..
There are Elite / Mini Boss type enemies and they can give quite the challenge...
There are a couple of unique traversal system in place aside from Fast Traveling between camps, and honestly I think they are cool - Emma can transform her hair/vines and use it as a grappling hook, a pole to vault over obstacles or to reach heights, or a bridge to reach some areas...
I also got an in-gane notification saying "Emma is hungry" or something along those lines, I think there are survival mechanics, or maybe it's a passive buff/debuff system involving food items in place, but I'm not seeing any options to cook meals, yet...
The world, the enemies (both the Nushi and the Machine-like beings, and the music - especially the music gave me major Stellar Blade and NieR vibes though...
It's not as bad as everyone makes it to be, but there's nothing to write home about it SO FAR - then again these are just first impressions, and I bet, if I get the Day One patch, I'll get a stable performance or if we get any QoL improvements down the line, this game can truly shine (I very much hope so)...
