LOOK: The cast of Theatre Group Asia's The Notebook: The Musical at the media briefing last August 27.

With a story that moves between youth and old age, The Notebook: The Musical examines love not simply as a grand romantic gesture, but as a choice made repeatedly across a lifetime. The production asks what remains when memory fades, circumstances change, and two people must find their way back to one another.

Performances run from September 3 to 20, 2026 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, Circuit Makati. Tickets are available through TicketWorld, with prices ranging from ₱900 to ₱5,500.

This September, Sc. : Scene Change presents BANTAYOG: Alaala at Gunita, a limited staged reading cycle on Martial Law, political disappearance, and public memory at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Circuit Makati.

VILLA by Guillermo Calderón, translated and directed by Giancarlo Abrahan, runs September 19–20, while DESAPARESIDOS, adapted from Lualhati Bautista’s novel by Guelan Varela-Luarca, runs September 26–27.

All shows start at 7:30 PM.

The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival continues to sail as it opens its doors for new entries for the Full-Length Film category of its 2027 edition. The deadline for submissions is on or before 6PM of SEPTEMBER 17, 2026 (Thursday).

The country’s biggest independent film festival continues its pursuit of innovative and excellent filmmaking as it celebrates 23 years of nurturing independent Filipino filmmakers eager to make their mark in the film industry in 2027.

Those who are interested in submitting their entries may submit it ONLINE through https://forms.gle/9GZD7CoayhMJrAxG6 with the following requirements: the concept paper of the project containing the premise(s) of the film, the genre, the tagline, the key characters, and their descriptions in Filipino or English; a two-page synopsis/storyline of the film project; resume of the proponent/s; two (2) recent photos of proponent/s; and a sample of the work directed by the proponent.

What does it mean to grow up in a family shaped by one of the darkest chapters in Philippine history?

Based on the 2012 book Subversive Lives: A Family Memoir of the Marcos Years by Susan F. Quimpo and Nathan Gilbert Quimpo, the production brings to the stage a deeply personal account of a family navigating resistance, sacrifice, and survival amid a turbulent period in the nation’s history.

The production features Gino Ramirez, Neomi Gonzales, Chic de Guzman, Teetin Villanueva, Liway Perez, Jerom Canlas, Joshua Tayco, Timothy Castillo, Jerome Dawis, Rigel Hechanova, Ethan King, and Kyrie Samodio as the Quimpo siblings.

Subversive Lives will have its limited two-weekend run at the Doreen Black Box Theater, Areté, Ateneo de Manila University, from August 28 to 30, to September 4 to 6, 2026.
