A gentle reminder as we return to school

Not all children had an easy break.

Some children went home to stress.
Some had no clear routine.
Some stayed up late, had too much screen time, or felt unsure and overwhelmed.
Some went back to school tired, emotional, clingy, distracted—or very quiet.

So if a child comes back a little “extra,” moody, or not themselves—
please don’t take it personally.

They are not being difficult.
They are adjusting.

This is our reminder to do what loving teachers and parents do:

✔️ Teach the rules again
✔️ Show them what to do
✔️ Practice routines slowly
✔️ Repeat with patience

Just like the first week of school, we may need to reset:
• daily routines
• classroom expectations
• transitions
• emotions

Not because we are lowering standards,
but because we are helping children settle again.

Most of all, children need to feel this:

“I see you.”
“I’m happy you’re here.”
“You are safe.”
“You belong here.”

When children feel safe and loved, they listen.
They try again.
They learn better.

At Tiny Happy Schoolhouse, we believe learning starts with connection.
Before correction, we choose understanding. 🌱

We’re in this together. 🤍

This isn’t prediction. This is already happening.

Many children:
• memorize letters but can’t blend
• “read” but don’t understand
• lose confidence early

Why?

Because reading isn’t just about practice — it’s about how the brain learns to read.

Phonics alone isn’t enough.
Reading more isn’t always the answer.
And guessing strategies often create confusion instead of progress.

Parents are willing — they just need clearer guidance.

That’s why I’m hosting this workshop:
Why Phonics: Supporting Reading at Home
A deeper, practical parent workshop

📅 January 25
🕙 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
💻 Online (Zoom)

💰 ₱450 Early Bird (until Jan 18)
💰 ₱550 Regular

This workshop is facilitated by Ms. Joy, a licensed BEEd graduate with 9 years of teaching experience in Macau & China, trained in Jolly Phonics through CPD College (online), Ireland.

In this workshop, we will cover:
• how reading develops in the brain — and why it isn’t automatic
• why phonics matters, and why guessing and memorizing don’t work long-term
• practical before-during-after reading strategies parents can use at home to build clarity, confidence, and calm routines

If you’re a parent quietly wondering whether your child is “ready” for preschool or Kindergarten, you’re not alone 🤍

We’d love to meet you, listen, and help you think through the next steps — no pressure.

Message us to book a short visit 🌱

Entering preschool or Kindergarten by June and unsure if your child is ready?

The next few months matter.

At The Grove, children learn in a calm, structured environment with hands-on STEAM experiences, explicit phonics, and daily opportunities to practice social skills. Everything is designed to gently build confidence and readiness before big school.

We intentionally keep our class sizes small so every child feels seen, supported, and guided.

Message us to visit and see if this feels right for your child 🌱

Oh wow. How did that happen? 🥹

I’ve been invited to do a storytelling seminar for 50-70 children’s ministry teachers in Palawan! Praise the Lord!

Children don’t learn in separate boxes.
They learn by connecting ideas, skills, and experiences.

At The Grove, learning doesn’t happen in silos.

Reading, math, and STEAM are connected —
because children don’t learn in pieces.

When children build, explore, measure, and experiment, they are developing:
• logical thinking
• problem-solving
• language
• attention
• confidence

These are the same skills that later support reading, comprehension, and learning across subjects.

This is whole-child learning.
This is how foundations are built.
