This week’s book : Ten Apples Up On Top! by Dr. Seuss

David picked the 🦁 lion as his favorite character and wrote in his reading journal:

“I like lion be koz he is fast and funne.”

(Spelled phonetically — exactly what I hope to see at this stage! 💛)

Then we brought the story to life… by trying to stack apples on our heads while walking.

The characters in the book can balance 10 — we maxed out at 1 apple each 🤣

We’re excited a new book for next week❤️

Question: How would you grade his sentence? See comment below.

10 words. One small rule: get them all correct and earn ₱5 toward the dream drone fund 💙

He gave it his best shot… and nailed it!
This week, I’ll be sharing some simple tips and tricks we’ve been using to make spelling click — just in case you want to try them with your own little learners.

Because sometimes learning is a mix of play, purpose, and a tiny prize. ❤️

Ready na maging kuya🤣

We were at S&R when David saw this luggage. He ran to it like it was treasure.
We told him we didn’t need it, but he was quietly losing his mind. 😂

He fussed and whined—nothing we said worked. He just had to have it.

Finally, I knelt down and said,
“Okay… we can buy the luggage. But if we do, we might not have enough money left for baby things—like diapers—when we do have a baby.”

He paused, looked at the luggage one last time, then said:
“Okay. I wanna have a baby. Not this one.” 😭😂

This week’s field trip took us to the D’Bone Collector Museum — a fascinating place filled with real animal skeletons! We saw so many different kinds: a huge whale, dinosaurs, sea turtles, snakes, monkeys, birds, and more. Each skeleton had a story, and our guide helped us understand where the animals came from and how they ended up in the museum.

Some of the animals had died because of plastic pollution or other dangers in the wild. Learning about them helped us see how important it is to take care of the earth and protect animals and their homes.

Our favorite part? Standing under the giant whale bones and seeing how big it really was! We also loved hearing all the fun facts and discovering that bones can teach us a lot about science, nature, and kindness to the planet.

When I was a child, word problems were so scary. 😟
That’s why I’m so passionate about making problem solving easier, more visual, and more tangible for David today. 💛

How I Help My Child Understand a Number Story:
1. Who is the story about?
→ Jane
2. What’s happening in the story?
→ She’s spraying girls and boys with a hose.
3. What do we know?
→ 7 girls and 8 boys
4. What’s the question?
→ How many kids in all?

Once your child understands the story, it’s time to show the thinking using easy tools like these:

Tools That Help Make Sense of the Numbers:

✔️ Quick Sketch – draw circles or simple pictures for each group
✔️ Ten Frames – fill in blocks to visually group and count
✔️ Number Path – hop from one number to the next (like a number line!)
✔️ Equation – turn it into math: 7 + 8 = 15
✔️ Answer Sentence – use real words: Jane sprayed 15 kids in all.

It’s not just about the answer — it’s about seeing the math and thinking it through! 💡

Let’s raise kids who aren’t scared of word problems — because they know every number story is something they can solve. Of course, with the tools we provide them with.💛
