This was achieved using a standard-diameter 19-core optical fiber over ~1,800 km, showing that existing infrastructure still has mind-blowing potential .

While this technology isn’t headed to home broadband just yet, it’s a major leap toward ultra-fast global networks, undersea cables, and future 6G backbones . For now, it’s a powerful tech demo—but one that hints at a future where buffering, long downloads, and lag could become relics of the past.
