Through the darkness that surrounds, a dazzling light shone.

Melchora Falcons kept their dreams alive, as they glided past Talipapa National High School (TNHS), 2-0, and Culiat High School (CHS), 2-0, after they suffered a devastating first game let down against Ismael Mathay Sr. High School (IMSHS), 1-2, in the District VI Athletic Meet--Men's Volleyball, at CHS on September 14, 2025.

Despite heavy rains, the teams showed how dedicated and competitive they were, with the stakes high for the chance to represent in the Division Meet.

After a shaky first set, the Falcons reigned strongly in the second against IMSHS, forcing a decisive third set with all eyes on the watch.

But that's the only height they reached as they failed to fly past IMSHS, falling short in a breathtaking third set down the line with costly mistakes; ending their opening game with scores of 14-25, 25-19, 17-19.

With their back against the wall, the Falcons rose to the occasion, making light work against TNHS, with scores of 25-12, 25-5.

Though TNHS showed they could put up a fight, the Falcons soared higher, staying more composed and pairing it with high-energy performances, enough to brush off a landslide second set win.

With their second game victory, the Falcons sustained their place, earning their next matchup against the home team, CHS, which would determine who will advance to the next round.

As their season was on the line, the Falcons displayed toughness in defense and grit on offense, where they took control and struck a first-set win against CHS.

Despite the efforts of CHS to close the gap in the second set, they didn't have the net to catch the fiery momentum the Falcons built as they continued their high-intensity executions.

With roaring fans behind their back, the Falcons never looked back as they ascended sky-high, crushing all CHS attempts to turn the game around.

Their defense became a great source of offense as they produced many saves with their excellent positioning led by Libero Zerimar Ramirez and his outstanding teammates.

Melchora Falcons booked their ticket to the next round, where they have the chance to triumph the District VI and earn the ultimate prize--representing in the Division Meet.

The Melchora Lady Falcons's wings were snapped for the fourth time.

Melchora Aquino High School (MAHS) could not handle the grittiness of Tandang Sora National High School (TSNHS), 0-2, and Emilio Jacinto National High School (EJNHS), 0-2, in the District VI Athletic Meet - Volleyball Women's on September 13, 2025, at Culiat High School, Quezon City.

TSNHS outlasted the Lady Falcons in a nail-biting opener, 25-22, 26-24, leaving Melchora dismayed. In the losing bracket, EJNHS closed the door on the Falcons in straight sets, 25-18, 25-21.

Despite the defeats, the Lady Falcons' main gunner and team captain, Angela Vicente, lifted the team with her incredible talent in the service and digging, tallying 12 massive points for the Falcons.

Meanwhile, Ghaille Ablao and Paula Balila helped the Falcons to soar high, but the team could not handle the pressure and tenacity of their rival teams.

"Pag 'di namin kaya yung kalaban, ini-encourage ko sila na mag-ingay sa court para mas uminit sila sa court and kaya naman namin lumaban at lumamang, nahahabol lang kami ng kalaban,โ€ Vicente shared.

According to Mr. Josar-Joe Molina, coach of the Lady falcons, "Sa strategy kasi, maraming butas at wala sa tamang puwesto. Pangalawa yung sa service nila; lagi sila nag is-stepping, at pangatlo yung attitude nila na kapag nagkaka-error sila, sinisisi nila yung sarili nila."

For the fourth time, the Melchora Lady Falcons ended their rally in the District VI Athletic Meet, suffering an early axe against their neighboring schools, the Soranians and the Emilians.

The battle between Melchora Aquino High School (MAHS) and Tandang Sora National High School (TSNHS) in the District 6 Secondary School Athletic Meet - Men's Basketball was held at Ismael Mathay Sr. High School (IMSHS) on September 13, 2025.

MAHS's strength and cooperation faded after the 2nd quarter, allowing TSNHS to catch up in the 3rd quarter and end the 4th quarter with a score of 46-54.

Kent Justine Candelario, MAHS's standout player, played incredibly well by maintaining smooth pacing and consistent scoring against TSNHS.

After the game, Coach Jodel Gasatan admitted that in the 3rd quarter, the team lost its rhythm.

He also said that if they still wanted to play, they would need more training.

As part of an educator's responsibility for quality teaching and continued professional growth, Melchora Aquino High School (MAHS) held its 3rd School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) on September 12 at MAHS Multi-purpose Court with four resource speakers.

In her opening remarks, Principal II Dr. Lorna C. Mendoza thanked the teachers for their consistent enthusiasm and urged them to continue working together for the benefit of every learner.

For the first speaker, Dr. Michael A. Nazareth, Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS), enlightened the teachers on the Guidelines on Recruitment, Selection, and Appointment in the Department of Education, in line with DepEd Order No. 24, s. 2025, also known as the "Guidelines on the Implementation of the Expanded Career Progression System for Teachers and School Heads in the Department of Education."

Dr. Nazareth explained that the memorandum aims to stop teachers from retiring while still at the Teacher I level.

He also encouraged everyone not to be afraid of applying for promotion and reminded them to set goals for their career growth to keep up with the countryโ€™s changing economy, stating that if their first application was not approved, teachers should keep trying and continue improving their credentials.

For the second half of the SLAC, Mr. Christian Buenaobra (Mathematics Department Coordinator), Ms. Mary Ann Asaytono (Filipino Reading Coordinator), and Mrs. Jhonnalyn Cuesta (English Reading Coordinator) gave a follow-up discussion on the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program, previously shared by Dr. Mendoza.

To gauge each teacher's knowledge and preparedness for the program, a pre-test and post-test were administered, where more than 40 teachers in attendance earned perfect scores, while some missed 2-3 items.

The four speakers received certificates of appreciation following their insightful presentations.

In his closing message, Faculty President Mr. Johnrick Salamero highlighted the important role teachers play in nurturing studentsโ€™ skills and shaping their future.

To strengthen and deepen understanding in the field of Campus Journalism, Melchora Aquino High School (MAHS) held a Campus Journalistsโ€™ Parents Orientation at MAHS Multi-purpose Court on September 12 around 10:00 A.M., with the guidance of the School Paper Advisers (SPAs) Ms. Glydelene Mae Trixcy A. Magbual (English Journalism) and Mr. Sherwin C. Teves (Filipino Journalism).

Ms. Magbual, SPA of The Luminary, discussed the significance of Republic Act 7079, also known as the "Campus Journalism Act of 1991," and how Journalism strengthens a student's ethical values and critical thinking that is crucial not only in writing.

In addition, Mr. Teves, SPA of Ang Kamalayan, proudly shared the achievements and accomplishments of MAHS young journalistsโ€™ even though the school's campus journalism program just started in 2022, clearly stating the fact that both school publication could keep up with other schools.

Mr. Teves also announced that MAHS will host the upcoming District VI Secondary Schools Press Conference (D6SSPC), a significant milestone for the schoolโ€™s growing journalism program.

To prepare for the event, both SPAs encouraged parents to actively support their childrenโ€™s needs, emphasizing that such involvement will not only help the students succeed but will also bring pride and honor to the entire school community.

They also highlighted that Journalism is now a mandatory subject for Grades 7 to 10โ€”specifically for students in 7-Affection, 8-Affection, 9-Hydrogen, and 10-Hydrogenโ€”as well as selected Senior High School students who participated in the previously held School-Based Press Conference (SBPC) in July this year.
