Are giant waves caused by earthquakes or volcanic eruptions under the sea.

Tsunami is a Japanese word that means 'Harbour Wave'. Approximately 80% of tsunamis happen inside the Pacific Ocean's 'Ring of Fire'.
Earthquake ๐
Happens when two blocks of the earth suddenly slip past one another.

Mega-earthquakes can shorten the length of a day for the entire planet. NASA says that large earthquakes can shift Earth's axis, thus changing the length of the day. The change of the day's length is not noticeable to the naked eye and is measured in microseconds (one-millionth of a second).
Volcanic eruptions ๐
Is an opening in a planet or moon's crust through which molten rock and gases trapped under the surface erupt, often forming a hill or mountain.
