LOOK: A little more than a hundred days since UP President Angelo Jimenez took office, the UP community continues to assert calls for democratic governance, academic freedom, and the university’s other primary needs in a mobilization in front of Quezon Hall this morning, May 25, alongside this month’s Board of Regents meeting.

Different sectoral groups within the university urge Jimenez to follow through on the promises he made when he first assumed the presidency.

NEWS UPDATE: UPD students have rejected UP ALYANSA’s candidates for both Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, with more than 5000 active abstentions for both positions.

Meanwhile, with 2,496 abstentions for councilor, only 8 councilors were proclaimed, all of whom are independent.

There were more abstentions than former STAND UP candidate Wovi Villanueva and all UP ALYANSA councilor candidates.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs says that the elected councilors and college representatives will decide how to fill the empty standard bearer positions, subject to the USC Constitution.

Before the vacancies are filled, the councilors with the two highest vote counts — BeatrizPineda and Kat Batac — will serve as Chairperson and Vice Chairperson respectively.
