I’ve been a fan of MV Agusta since the unforgettable debut of the F4 750 Serie Oro at EICMA in 1997. Twenty-seven years later, I found myself receiving the news of another Serie Oro motorcycle coming near us. A surreal moment: the local turnover of the MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro to its new owner, Mr. Fred, right here in Metro Manila. A “full circle” moment—pun very much intended.
Only 500 units of this model exist worldwide. The Philippine unit is number 77, and it was already sold even before its official launch. Priced at ₱4.5 million, it’s one of the most exclusive motorcycles ever to set rubber on local soil.
The turnover was hosted by Ms. Camille Lu of Motostrada Philippines on August 2 at the beautiful studio coffee shop called Oliver’s Coffee in San Juan, with Mr. Diego Jante facilitating the quiet but meaningful handover.
Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro:
Derived from the Brutale 1000RR platform, the Serie Oro is MV Agusta’s most ambitious expression of performance and design:
• Engine: 998 cc inline-four with 16 titanium radial valves (valvole radiali)
• Power: 208 hp @ 13,000 rpm, 116.5 Nm @ 11,000 rpm
• Electronics: MVICS 2.1, 8 injectors, MV EAS 4.0 quickshifter, 8-level traction control, cornering ABS, launch control, cruise control, anti-wheelie
• Chassis & Suspension: Steel trellis frame, Öhlins EC NIX 43 mm forks, Öhlins EC TTX rear shock, electronic steering damper
• Brakes: Brembo Stylema 4-piston calipers with 320 mm front discs, Continental MK100 cornering ABS with RLM
• Materials: Over 40 carbon-fiber components, including the fairings, wings, airbox, and dashboard mount
• Exhaust: Lightweight Akrapovič 4-exit titanium system
• Finish: Leather and Alcantara seat, numbered aluminum plaque, and a premium welcome kit with billet accessories
This MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro is a rolling piece of high-performance art, engineered with obsessive attention to detail. For me, seeing this rare machine arrive in the Philippines—27 years after I first fell in love with the brand—felt like something coming full circle.
Mr. Fred—Alfred Saban, widely regarded as the Philippines’ biggest MV Agusta collector—owns (I reckon) more than 10 special edition MV Agustas, and has personally visited Giacomo Agostini at the MV Agusta headquarters in Varese, Italy. Thanks to enthusiasts like him, MV Agusta has never missed importing any of its special models into the country, ensuring the brand’s legacy stays alive and complete in the Philippines.
