It will be held on 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟭𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, Saturday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM in front of Palma Hall, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), UP Diliman, Quezon City!

𝗧𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻 [tam.bá.lan.] is a Cebuano term which means 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗸 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 (𝗻.); 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 (𝘃.); 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 (𝘃.). It comes from the root word tambal [tam.bal.] which means medicine (n.); cure (v.); remedy (v.); treat (v.).

In the context of a social movement working for health and human rights, Tambalan means a community coming together to learn more about their campaigns that intersect various sectors and issues, traditional and alternative practices that promote better health and community empowerment, and pursuit of common actions to treat our society’s illness.

The Tambalan Community Health Fair 2025 will have educational and campaign booths, health services, activities and more!

Everyone is invited! Join us in the discussions on different social issues and the struggle for people's right to health! Be part of the campaign for a free, comprehensive, public health care system!

The CSSP Office of the Associate Dean for Research, Extension, and Publications (OADREP) of CSSP and the Philippine Social Sciences Review is now accepting applications for the CSSP Writing Fellowship 2025. The Fellowship is open to all regular CSSP faculty.
Fellowship grants are available for one (1) slot each for senior and junior faculty members. The senior fellowship is for faculty members with ranks of associate professor and full professor at the start of the fellowship period. The junior fellowship is open to instructors and assistant professors at the start of the fellowship period. Both fellowships are designed to support writing a journal article based on the applicant’s previously completed research.

CALL FOR PAPERS: Special Issue on Population Aging

The 2020 Census-based population projection estimates that the Philippines will reach aging society status by 2030, when the population aged 65 and over comprises 7 percent of the total population. The aging of the population is the inevitable outcome of the shift from high to low levels of fertility and mortality. This demographic trend will be experienced by almost all countries in the world, but at different paces. How the Philippines deals with the challenges of an aging population depends on how well it prepares for it.

In this special issue of the Philippine Social Sciences Review (PSSR), we welcome submissions that focus on issues of older people, and programs and policies on population aging. Submissions can either be research articles (both qualitative and quantitative), comparative research on aging, methodological papers on aging research, policy evaluation, article or book reviews, and research notes.
