Some Good Things Never Last" – An Essay on Love and Letting Go
In life, we often hold onto the people and moments that make us feel alive, hoping they will last forever. Love, in its most genuine form, can feel like a miracle — a deep connection, a warm comfort, a spark that lights up the soul. But as much as we want to preserve it, some good things simply aren’t meant to last. They come into our lives for a season, teach us something valuable, and then fade, leaving behind memories that never quite leave our hearts.
When someone you deeply love becomes part of your story, it’s natural to dream of a future together — one built on shared laughter, plans, and unspoken promises. But sometimes, no matter how strong the love is, circumstances, timing, or personal growth pull you apart. It's a painful truth: love alone doesn’t always keep people together.
Losing someone you love doesn't mean the relationship was a failure. It simply means its purpose has been fulfilled. That person might have helped you see your worth, taught you how to open your heart, or reminded you what it feels like to truly care for someone. Those are good things — beautiful, meaningful things. But not all good things are meant to last forever.
In the end, we learn that love is not always about holding on. Sometimes, it's about accepting the end with grace and carrying the good in our hearts. Because even if they’re no longer by your side, the love you once shared will always be a chapter you treasure. Some good things never last — but their impact often does.
