With social media, the so-called keyboard warriors were born. People have it easy nowadays to voice out their opinions, both good and bad. “basura” talks about just that—internet trolls and bullies with empty and substanceless comments on topics or people.

“basura” creates a direct approach to the issue. SUYEN’s vocal delivery shows authenticity and establishes rawness that captures their anger, transforming that feeling to something more empowering—trolling the trolls. Meanwhile, the band did an amazing job creating a sound that suggests the intensity of emotions and drives the different shifts through its dynamics. A collaboration that felt natural, they produced a sound that’s both unique yet familiar that still reflects each of their identities.

Now, “basura” serves to be an encouragement to people to have empathy towards others by being mindful of their impact and influence to their online audience

They expressed that writing and producing the track turned out to be a great experience for them, picking up a lot from each other along the way.

SUYEN shared that it was a nice change of pace seeing someone else’s approach in making a song, given that she usually works on songs by herself. andwich also found the experience refreshing, as it pushed them to loosen up and experiment more with melody-making.
