It is with immense honor and appreciation that we acknowledge the official State of the Womenโs Address (SOWA) delivered by our beloved ๐ค๐๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ถ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ, ๐ ๐ฎ. ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ณ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ โ๐๐ผ๐โ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐บ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ. Her leadership continues to inspire us as we strive for a more inclusive and just society for women. We encourage everyone to watch her video message, where she reaffirms the city's commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment.
๐ค๐๐ฆ๐๐โ๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐:
Women have lived with an invisible strength. Some spoke in tongues known to few, some dressed in clothes speaking of their heritage, and some were bound by traditions meant to restrain their dreams and futures. But within them resided an unseen powerโa will engraved in stoneโthat carried them through every storm. These women are mothers, daughters, sisters, builders, and warriors, united by their common experience in a society that often overlooked their value.
Every day, women carve out strategies to overcome barriers, find their worth, and claim their rightful place in this world. By advocating for their rights, raising families with unwavering dedication, or revolutionizing industries with their brilliance, women prove that their existence transcends socially prescribed roles. This month is a time for them to speak up, express themselves, challenge norms, and prove that strength knows no bounds. As history unfolds, these womenโpast, present, and futureโremind us of the incredible power woven into every womanโs story.
This March, the Quezon City Secondary Editorsโ Guild (QCSEG) proudly joins the celebration of National Womenโs Month 2025. Let us build momentumโWOMENtumโtowards establishing a society that is just, equal, and inclusive for all. Womanhood is about breaking barriers and reshaping the world, regardless of sexual orientation, religion, political beliefs, ethnicity, age, or nationality. Womenโs Month is a global reminder of their everyday contributions. It is a time to remember the journey of a womanโher suffering, her victories, and the injustices she continues to face. It is also a time to honor her resilience, whether at home, in the workplace, or in the streets.

As we celebrate, we must also demand systemic change. Womenโs empowerment cannot be achieved without dismantling the structures that perpetuate gender inequality. National policies, education reforms, and economic opportunities must be restructured to ensure that women enjoy the same rights, access, and respect as their male counterparts.
The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) leads the charge in championing gender-responsive policies. This yearโs theme, "Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas," envisions a future where women can live free from violence, prejudice, and discrimination. However, this vision requires collective effortโgender equality must become a shared responsibility among all Filipinos.

Womenโs struggles are deeply tied to broader societal issues. Organizations like Gabriela and Sining Lila actively advocate for women's rights, from economic empowerment to resistance against oppression. Gabriela fights for policies that benefit marginalized women, while Sining Lila uses arts and culture to raise awareness of gender-based violence and social inequalities. These movements, along with labor unions and human rights defenders, push for real and lasting change.
Legislation plays a crucial role in protecting womenโs rights. The Magna Carta for Women (RA 9710), the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act (RA 9262), and the R**e Victim Assistance and Protection Act (RA 8505) are among the laws that safeguard womenโs welfare. However, true empowerment lies not just in having these laws but in ensuring their proper implementation. It is only through sustained advocacy and active participation that these legal frameworks can translate into real protection and opportunities for women.

QCSEG stands in solidarity with every woman who has fought and continues to fight for her place in society. As campus journalists, we have a duty to amplify their voices and dismantle discrimination through storytelling. Their stories must be told, their struggles acknowledged, and their victories celebrated.
This is a call to all Filipinos: Let us break the glass ceilings that hinder progress, not just with policies and declarations, but with unwavering determination. Let us stand together in challenging the norms that imprison women in outdated expectations. Let us work towards a society where women do not just survive but thrive, unapologetically, in their rightful places.
As we commemorate this month, let us actively commit ourselves to the movementโnot just in name, but through action. Every one of us has the power to usher in a society where women enjoy equal rights, opportunities, and representation. Advocacy is not just about raising awareness; it is about creating real, lasting change.
With collective effort, we can foster a world where womenโs voices are heard, their contributions valued, and their futures secured. Join us in this movement. Watch Mayor Joy Belmonteโs message, take part in discussions, and be a force for equality and empowerment.
Happy International Womenโs Month to every girlie, strong mom, independent woman, and woman at heart!
