QCPD Conducts Orientation on IAD at TSNHS

The Quezon City Police Department (QCPD) Station 3 led an orientation at Tandang Sora National High School (TSNHS) regarding the Immediate Action Drill (IAD) Protocol for Violent Emergencies in Schools on August 25, 2026.

This was attended by classroom officers, the School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) and the school administration.

The seminar aimed to educate students on the proper actions to take during a school shooting incident and enhance their preparedness in responding to potential emergencies.

Police Staff Sergeant (PSSg) Raymond Jabillo introduced the Identify, Avoid, Deny, Defend (I.A.D.D.) framework, explaining how to respond when facing danger in the school.

"Ginagawa namin to para ma-inform namin ang mga estudyante kung ano mga gagawin nila kapag may danger sa school," PSSg. Jabillo said, emphasizing the importance of taking immediate action to ensure safety.

Police Chief Master Sergeant (PCMS) Princess T. Relayo also reminded students not to trust strangers easily or follow unauthorized requests.

The afternoon session continued with Police Captain Jefferson A. Maderazo as the speaker, delivering the orientation to the afternoon batch of students and attendees to reinforce security and safety measures.

The Barangay Tandang Sora Fire Brigade Volunteer & Rescue, led by Fire Chief Henry Llao, and BPSO Fire Rescuer Arnaldo Anueto were also present to support the event.

SORANIANS participate in SDG Symposium

Tandang Sora National High School (TSNHS) learners participated in the S.D.G. Youth Lab: Sustainable Development Goals Symposium 2026 held August 22 at Melchora Aquino High School.

Organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Tandang Sora, led by SK Kagawad and Program Lead Adrian M. Codog and SK Chairperson Julles Ivan T. Apo, the symposium carried the theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations: Bridging Youth Voices for the Sustainable Development Goals.”

The event aimed to deepen the leaners’ understanding of the SDGs and explore ways to contribute to sustainable development in their communities.

Dr. Hermania J. Flores, Principal II of Melchora Aquino High School, delivered the opening remarks, where she explained the importance of setting goals and understanding sustainable development.
“Ang goals, may gagawin kayo, ang dreams, pangarap lang ’yan eh. Development is to be better than you were. Sustainable means that they should be doable, they should be there hindi lang sa simula,” Flores said.

Kagawad Pandoy Alcantara also addressed the participants, emphasizing the barangay’s support for projects initiated by the SK Council. He encouraged the youth to continue participating in activities that benefit the community.

Plenary speaker Mr. Marxist Lenin Astudillo discussed the symposium’s theme and emphasized the importance of aspirations in achieving a better life.

Following this, the contest proper followed the opening program, with participants competing in the different SDG-related activities. Project Pitching contestants later presented their proposed projects at the open court while the booths were reopened for the participants.

The event concluded with the awarding ceremony, where winners received certificates of recognition, medals, and cash prizes. Mr. Adrian Codog, Committee on Active Citizenship, delivered the closing remarks before the participants, SK Council members, and judges gathered for a group photo.

Soranians won champion in project pitching, first runner-up in SDG Knowledge Arena and second runner-up in SDG Academic Quiz Bee.

Their achievements were made possible through the guidance of their coaches and parents and the support of the school administration.

Quezon Day 2026

Today, August 19, we commemorate the 148th birth anniversary of former President Manuel L. Quezon, widely known as the “Ama ng Wikang Pambansa".

Under Republic Act No. 6741, August 19 is declared a special working holiday throughout the Philippines, except in the provinces of Quezon and Aurora and Quezon City, where it is observed as a special non-working public holiday.

This holiday serves as an opportunity to remember President Quezon’s contributions to the country and his legacy in Philippine history.

Tandang Sora National High School (TSNHS) conducted a Food Handling and Food Safety Seminar on July 25, 2026, at the school library to enhance the knowledge and skills of TLE teachers, canteen personnel, cookery learners, and parents on proper food preparation, handling, hygiene, and sanitation.

The resource speaker, Dr. Jackielyn Estiller, shared valuable insights and essential guidelines on maintaining cleanliness, preventing food contamination, and ensuring the quality of food served to learners.

The activity was organized and facilitated by Dr. Maria Teresa A. Salcedo, TLE Head Teacher VI, who led the initiative to strengthen food safety practices among stakeholders involved in food preparation and service.

School Principal Dr. Lorna C. Mendoza provided guidance and support for the successful implementation of the program.

The seminar reinforced TSNHS’ commitment to promoting a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment for its learners.
