Charlie Kirk Fatally Shot at Utah University Event

In a shocking and tragic turn of events, Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a well-known conservative activist, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday evening.

According to reports, Kirk was in the middle of delivering a presentation to students and attendees when a gunshot rang out inside the venue. Eyewitnesses said the activist recoiled in shock before collapsing, with blood visibly pouring from his neck.

Kinumpirma ito ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin sa isang liham na may date na August 25.

Matatandaang malaki ang papel ni Torre sa pag-aresto kina dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte nitong March at Apollo Quiboloy noong September 2024.

OPISYAL NG DPWH, ARESTADO MATAPOS MANUHOL SA ISANG BILYONARYONG KONGREHISTA.

Isang District Engineer (DE) mula sa Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ang inaresto at kasalukuyang nasa kustodiya ng pulisya matapos umanong tangkaing suhulan ang isang bagitong mambabatas upang itigil ang imbestigasyon sa mga umano'y maanomalyang proyekto sa kanyang distrito.

Ayon sa mga ulat, nagtungo ang naturang opisyal sa tanggapan ng mambabatas—na isa palang “Bilyonaryong Kongresista”—upang mag-alok ng kickback mula sa mga proyektong inaprubahan sa ilalim ng 2025 budget.

Batay sa impormasyon, inalok ng DE ang kongresista ng 5 hanggang 10 porsyento mula sa kabuuang halagang P3.6 bilyong proyekto, na katumbas ng P180 hanggang P360 milyon.

Dagdag pa rito, ipinangako rin umano ng opisyal ang mas malaking porsyento—15 hanggang 20%—mula sa mga proyektong nakatakdang ilaan sa 2026 budget. Ayon sa mga source, may bitbit pang listahan si DE ng mga contractor na handang magbigay ng “parte” sa mambabatas kapalit ng pagtigil ng imbestigasyon.

Mas nakababahala, inamin pa umano ng opisyal na substandard ang ilang proyekto sa kanyang distrito, at tinawag ang nasabing sistema ng suhulan bilang “Standard Operating Procedure” (SOP) sa loob ng DPWH. Bilang paunang patunay, nag-alok si DE ng halagang P3.6 milyon na cash, at may nakatakdang karagdagang P15 milyon kinabukasan.

Sa halip na tumanggap ng pera, agad na tumawag ng awtoridad ang kongresista. Agad namang rumesponde ang Philippine National Police (PNP) at inaresto si DE sa mismong tanggapan ng mambabatas.

Kabilang sa mga nakumpiskang ebidensya ay isang bag na naglalaman ng cash at listahan ng mga kasalukuyang proyekto ng DPWH sa distrito. Kasalukuyang nasa kustodiya ng pulisya ang opisyal habang inihahanda ang kasong isasampa laban sa kanya sa opisina ng provincial prosecutor.

Ang insidenteng ito ang kauna-unahang pag-aresto sa isang opisyal ng DPWH mula nang ipag-utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang masusing imbestigasyon sa mga anomalya sa nasabing ahensya.
