The red-tagging of the UPLB administration, student councils, and UPLB Perspective prompted the release of a joint statement condemning the anonymous page named “UPLB Perspective Exposed”.

NEWS | Through the collective clamor of the UPLB community, a page under the name of “UPLB Perspective Exposed” has now been taken down by Meta, the parent company of Facebook.

However, this does not diminish the vilification against academic institutions that target the UPLB Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, and student institutions including the University Student Council (USC) and the official student publication, UPLB Perspective.

Carl Mhel Tabora, the Editor-in-Chief of the said publication, asserts the responsibility of the alternative media to expose the continued impunity perpetuated by the state grounded with the plight of the mass.

“Habang may mga publikasyong nakaugat sa sambayanan, mananatiling buhay ang pamamahayag na hindi takot maglingkod, magmulat, maningil ng pananagutan at tapusin ang kultura ng impunidad,” said Tabora Tabora during a Solidarity Night, in commemoration of National Press Freedom Day at UPLB.

LOOK: Altermidya Network joins film group DAKILA-Laguna at the screening of Jazrene Gonzales' documentary 'Takot ang Buwaya sa Lapis' at UP Los Baños today, Sept. 5.

The documentary is about community journalist Frenchie Mae Cumpio, who has been detained since 2020 over trumped-up charges.

The documentary screening program, titled "Tulis ng Upod”, also featured Ryand Ugalde’s film, Shutdown, which centers on former employees affected by the closure of media giant ABS-CBN.
