On Sunday, July 5, Mount Hiyori in Sendai City officially opened for its annual climbing season. Participants gathered for a special ceremony featuring a newly debuted support song before walking approximately one kilometer to the base of the mountain. Climbers then successfully reached the summit in just six steps, receiving official certificates to commemorate their brief ascent.

The Geospatial Information Authority of Japan certified the site in 2014 as the nation's lowest mountain, registering an elevation of exactly three meters. Originally standing at six meters before being severely eroded by the 2011 tsunami, the mountain continues to serve as a distinctive local landmark and a reminder of the area's ongoing recovery.
