So, how many types of dementia are there?

You may hear different answers, and that is exactly why this supplemental material matters.

Dementia is an umbrella term, and different authorities classify its diseases, causes, and subtypes in different ways. Some references cite over 100, while others cite over 200. There is no single universally agreed exact number.

For learners, the important lesson is not simply memorizing a number. It is understanding that dementia has many forms, and knowing the type matters because each person may experience it differently.

Through our FREE closed Lifesaver Training and Lecture, Purple Angel community and friends are gaining practical knowledge in basic healthcare, helping more people become informed, prepared, and confident in responding to everyday health needs.

Educational leaflets about Gunita Para Sa Dementia by Hi Eisai Philippines were also shared with participants, extending access to useful health and dementia information.

Our heartfelt thanks to Ma’am Charline Daweg Dominguez and Institute for Dementia Care Asia for facilitating the Basic Healthcare Lecture, and to Welcome Rotonda Mpc -Multi Purpose Cooperative for supporting this learning initiative.

But what about the risk of having no one to talk to?

A person can be physically safe and still be profoundly alone.

Maybe good care should not only ask,
“How do we keep them safe?”

Three Memory Café sessions. Three different settings. One continuing advocacy for dementia awareness. 💜

On August 23, 2026, our third and final Memory Café session brought the conversation into an intimate gathering at a private residence in Cebu City.

Our heartfelt appreciation to Cyn Di, author of Before I Forget, and Glenn S. Tirado, Purple Angel Dementia Advocate, for leading these meaningful conversations and bringing dementia awareness closer to families and communities.

From an online session, to Brgy. Guizo in Mandaue City, and finally to a private gathering in Cebu City, each session created space for stories, learning, understanding, and connection.

Our Lifesaver Training continues this Saturday with an additional learning session on Hypertension Management, together with practical training on vital signs taking and basic patient observation.

Facilitated by Nrs. Charline Daweg Dominguez

This is a closed training session and is required for our Purple Angel friends as preparation for the upcoming events and related training.
