The UP Men’s Football Team avenged last season’s heartbreak with a 3-1 win over the defending champions FEU Tamaraws, showing they’ve got the horns for a finals return.

The journey continues as the UP Fighting Maroons take on the DLSU Green Booters on October 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub.

FALCONS SCRATCHED A MAROON WIN 🐦

The Adamson Soaring Falcons escape a gutsy comeback against the UP Fighting Maroons with a tight score of 59-62.

Gerry Abadiano led the charge for the team during the first half, but the Soaring Falcons swiftly stacked up points with consecutive shots that brought them their bacon.

Cheer up and bring the Times Ten crowd as the UP Fighting Maroons challenge the UE Red Warriors on September 28, 2 PM at the Smart Araneta Coliseum ✊🏻

MARCOS JR AT PNP, TIGILAN NYO NA ANG PANDARAHAS AT PANDADAKIP SA KABATAAN! RELEASE WOVI VILLANUEVA NOW!

Mariing kinukundena ng nagkakaisang UP Diliman ang pandarahas at iligal na pagdakip kay Mattheo Wovi Villanueva. Nanawagan ang komunidad para sa agarang paglaya ni Wovi Villanueva.

Habang pinapatnubayan ang organized dispersal ng bulto ng University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) sa Mendiola, si Mattheo Wovi Villanueva ay walang-awang binugbog ng bulto ng mga pulis at iligal na dinakip bandang 4PM. Nagsilbi si Wovi bilang security marshal ng UPD at paralegal sa oras ng mobilisasyon. Isa siyang estudyante ng Kolehiyo ng Arte at Literatura (KAL), dating Education and Research Officer ng Freshie, Shiftee, and Transferee Council ng KAL, bahagi ng UP Pi Sigma, at honorary member ng the UP Repertory Company.

Maliban kay Wovi, marami pang kabataan ang dinahas at iligal na inaresto ng kapulisan sa gitna ng gitgitan at dispersal. Ito ay malinaw na paglabag sa karapatan na malayang ipahayag ang kolektibong galit at magprotesta dala ng sumisidhi at sumisingaw na kabulukan ng gubyerno. Ang ganitong pagtugon ng estado sa kritisismo ng taumbayan ay patunay na wala silang balak na makinig sa ating mga panawagan at wala silang pakialam sa kapakanan ng mga mamamayan.

Ang pagtindig ni Wovi, ng mga kabataan, ng taumbayang nagprotesta noong Linggo ay malinaw na paglaban sa malawakang korapsyon at kawalang pananagutan ni Marcos Jr. at iba pang mga nagsasabwatang pulitiko. Hindi ang PNP, kundi ang mga kabataan tulad ni Wovi ang nangangahas na nakikibaka at tunay na tumatalima sa mantrang “to serve and protect.”

Sa ganitong pandarahas ng estado, lalo lamang dumarami ang batayan ng kabataan para paigtingin ang paniningil sa rehimeng Marcos Jr. Patuloy na titindig ang kabataan upang tutulan ang korapsyon at pasismo sa Marcos Jr. at ng PNP.

Iskolar ng Bayan, manindigan at labanan ang inhustisya at pandarahas ng estado! Makiisa sa ating mga panawagan: Release Wovi Villanueva! Palayain lahat ng mga iligal na dinakip sa Mendiola!

MAROONS STUMBLE, BUT THE FIGHT GOES ON

The defending champions UP Fighting Maroons opened their UAAP Season 88 campaign with a tough loss to the UST Growling Tigers, 67–87, at the Quadricentennial Pavilion.

A matchup that carried echoes of their Final Four clash last season, UP and UST once again went head-to-head in a battle of grit and composure.

Right from the tip-off, the Tigers showed bite, building a 12-point lead. UP fought back in the second quarter with Harold Alarcon’s back-to-back threes, trimming the deficit. But UST answered quickly, with Collins Akowe powering his way inside to widen the gap once more. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers shut down every Maroon rally with timely baskets and tight defense, holding on to secure the win.

With the season still wide open, the UP Fighting Maroons regroup for their next fight against the Adamson Soaring Falcons on September 24 at the Quadricentennial Pavilion.

MAROONS KICK OFF WITH AN OPENING WIN ⚽️

The UP Men’s Football Team defeated the UE Red Warriors with a 1-0 victory, defending their place as a candidate for the championship.

They’re sure to keep the momentum going as the UP Fighting Maroons challenge FEU Tamaraws on September 25, 7:00 PM at Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub.

TIGERS GROWL OUT MAROONS! 🐅

The UST Growling Tigers roar to victory, leaving the UP Fighting Maroons chasing all game long, 87-67.

Battle-tested and fired up, the fight continues as State U is determined to secure their first win against the Adamson Soaring Falcons this Wednesday, September 24 at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.

ICYMI: UAAP Season 88 begins with “Strength in Motion, Hope in Action!”

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), alongside this season’s host, the University of Santo Tomas, brings out its strongest roars at the Collegiate Basketball Press Conference held at Gloria Maris Greenhills.

The UP Fighting Maroons take a season of pride and continuity as Cheska Ramos returns as UP’s courtside reporter with her familiar stories and energy from the sidelines once again.

State U showed up in full force with the UP Men’s Basketball Team's (UPMBT) Assistant Coach Christian Luanzon, standout players Harold Alarcon and Gani Stevens, along with UP’s Office for Athletics and Sports Development (OASD) Director Bo Perasol, while the UP Women’s Basketball Team (UPWBT) was represented by Coach Paul Ramos, Shanina Tapawan, and Achrissa Maw.

The UPMBT’s season tips off on September 21 against the UST Growling Tigers, followed by the UPWBT against the AdU Soaring Falcons on September 24.

Nagsanib-puwersa ang mga estudyante, kaguruan, at iba’t-ibang sektor ngayong ika-12 ng Setyembre 2025 sa UP Diliman para sa walkout at protesta tutol sa korapsyon at pagbawas ng badyet pang-edukasyon.

Pagkatapos ng mga lokal na programa sa iilang mga kolehiyo, nagtipon sa Palma Hall Steps ang libu-libong tao upang ipagpatuloy ang kanilang mga panawagan.

Mula sa pag-oorganisa ng University Student Council at ng mga Local College Council, kabilang ang kilusang ito sa Black Friday Protest na isinagawa rin sa buong bansa.

Ngayong araw ay nakapanayam namin ang ilang mga estudyante at propesor mula sa UP Diliman na nakilahok sa Black Friday Protest ngayong ika-12 ng Setyembre 2025.

Nagsimula ang protesta kaninang umaga nang magsagawa ng Walkout Rally ang mga kolehiyo ng unibersidad, kung saan nahinto ang pagsasagawa ng mga klase. Kasama ng mga estudyante ang kaguruan at ang iba pang mga miyembro ng UP Diliman sa kilusang ito.

Ibinahagi ng mga nakapanayam ang kahalagahan ng pagsali sa mga protestang kumakampanya laban sa korapsyon at pagtawag para sa sapat at mas mataas na pondo para sa edukasyon.

Ang kilusang ito ay isinagawa sa lahat ng institusyon ng UP sa buong bansa.
