Congratulations!

Twenty-two years of unwavering service, excellence, and heart. That is the legacy of Ms. Ailene O. Montalban, this year’s Junior High School Division Faculty of the Year.

Her Talinong Rizal shines through her innovative approach to teaching Science, her mentorship of countless Rizalians, and her ability to blend clarity with compassion in every lesson. She is not only an educator but a lifelong learner, taking part in university-wide transformation projects and professional organizations that drive academic progress and institutional growth.

Her Talentong Rizal is evident in her leadership and service. As Vice President for Teaching of the JRU Faculty and Employees Union, Chair of the Women’s Committee of NATOW, and member of the ASEAN Women’s Network Philippines, she empowers both educators and women across the region.

Through her Taos-Pusong Rizal, she extends her dedication beyond the classroom. Her involvement in the US–PH Library Partners Marinduque Chapter and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines exemplifies her compassion for communities in need and her steadfast commitment to service.

And in her quiet strength lies her Tatag Rizal. She uplifts through humility, listens with empathy, and leads by example. Her calm presence and steady resolve inspire both her colleagues and her students.

Congratulations to Ms. Ailene O. Montalban, a teacher, leader, and advocate, and a true builder of tomorrow.

Congratulations!

Every university is shaped by individuals who not only teach, but also build systems that allow others to grow. Dr. Avelino S. Caraan Jr., our Higher Education Category Faculty of the Year, is one of those remarkable pillars at JRU.

His commitment to academic excellence is reflected in the programs he has helped strengthen at the Graduate School, continuously updating courses to keep pace with an evolving world. His guidance has empowered graduate students to contribute meaningful research, including Scopus-indexed work that elevates JRU’s visibility in the global academic community.

He has led initiatives that opened more pathways for learners, including the development of transnational education offerings that broaden opportunities not only for local students, but also for international learners who chose JRU as their home.

His dedication extends to well-being and welfare. He co-developed the university’s Comprehensive Mental Health Program, ensuring that students and employees receive support in times of challenge and change. He has also helped financially disadvantaged SHS students gain access to national certifications that bring them closer to their chosen careers.

As he continues to serve as President of the JRU Faculty and Employees Union, he advocates for an environment where every educator and student can thrive. Through leadership, compassion, and a strong belief in the Rizalian mission, he has made a lasting impact on the institution and the people in it.

We proudly honor Dr. Avelino S. Caraan Jr., the Higher Education Category Faculty of the Year, whose work reminds us that true excellence builds futures.
