Two years ago, I ran my first 50KM ultra with no training, no plan, and no support, just grit and a bit of madness. I finished, but it broke me. That pain lit a fire in me, a promise to return stronger.
This year, I kept that promise. I trained hard and signed up for BDM 102, twice the distance, held in the same month as my first ultra. It felt like destiny. I went in self-supported, along the way I learned that support doesn’t always come in the form of a crew van or pre-packed nutrition. Sometimes, it comes in the form of a kind stranger handing you water. A fellow runner offering a quiet “Let’s go, kaya mo yan.” A local cheering “Konti na lang!” even if there’s still 50KM left (I laughed through the pain). A child waving from the side of the road.
A support crew yelling encouragement to someone else, and unknowingly lifting you too. A cold Coke shared without hesitation. A prayer whispered by someone tracking you from afar.
To the strangers, friends, my RFC Krazzy family, and my girl, thank you. You reminded me what this journey is really about.
Running ultras isn’t just about distance. It’s about connection, resilience, and remembering why you started.
To those who finished BDM 102, congratulations!
To those chasing something that scares them, believe you can!
As for me….
See you at 160KM?
Stay Krazzy.
